I was wondering if any one has put VT or VN heads on a 5L befor. Whether it is posible and whether they are better than the VL heads. Cheers Tim

plenty of ppl do it, and the heads are heaps better as they flow a hell of a lot more air. 460hp potential at max lift out of the box compared to sub 400 on the carby heads

lol.. your 5L vl is carburettor, i don't think you can wack injected heads on there without converting it to injected, someone correct me if i'm wrong, but you'd need to change to injected manifolds, throttle body, injectors, fuel lines, pumps... and no, i don't think 5.7L VT LS1 heads will fit on your carby 304 VL Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

He'd probably mean puting on the VT 5L heads. And you dont need to convert to injected, all u gotta do is change the extractors to some that fit, and a new manifold.... u can keep the carby for sure

nothing wrong with Bcast heads at all. so dont just think because Vn heads flow more youll have better performance

Why i ask is that i understand that with the Vn/Vt heads that the extractors and manifold need to be changed and as I need to get new extractors and manifols/carb Was just wondering if it was worth changing the heads and not waste buying the other bits if down the track i change the heads. so is it worht going VN etc heads? Tim

VN heads can be very beneficial, new cam you need also.

Instead of using the bunch of bananas inlet manifold for the efi you can use a carby on a Harrop or Active inlet manifold.

VN heads flow heaps better, you don,t even have to port them, well worth the update from stock VL V8 heads but you will have upgrade cam, headers and inlet manifold or sell your motor and buy the whole 5.0i donk and dyno it to 185kw etc

more power CAN be made with VN heads than with cast VL heads.. if the setup is right

It all comes down to how much power you ultimately want. if you want 350-400hp just stick with the heads you have now. If you want some decent power then just go straigh to VN heads, its alot cheaper at the end doing it that way than porting the crap out of the B cast heads. Im running VN heads, with 2.02 valves and they flow about 560-570hp, im very glad that ive gone this way because i know no matter what i do in the future i wont have to touch the heads again Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

The car is going VERY well, thanks mate . I've got holidays soon, so im going to go to Sams Performance and FINALLY tune the car. Since it isnt tuned yet, it pings slightly when im accelerating pretty hard in 3rd gear, so ive yet to fully thrash the **** of it. Once its tuned, il thrash the arse off it and il lets yas know how it goes Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
