got this in an email from a mate.....just thought it may be useful
Anyone who goes to Belconnen Shopping Centre please read the incident below
regarding a gang targeting customers:
Hi everyone
When I went to Belconnen Mall yesterday (Saturday 11
June) with a
friend, we were waiting for a car to reverse out of
a park (on the 2nd
level of the multi storey car park on the Grace Bros
side) and this
happened right in front of us:
As the woman was reversing her car out of the car
space, a group of
teenagers where standing around nearby, one of the
teenagers appeared
not to be paying attention and walked very close to
the car as it was
reversing then dropped to the ground and started
screaming in pain.
The woman re-parked her car and got out to see if
the guy was alright.
While his mates were all screaming at the woman
asking for her insurance
details, we couldn't believe it when another
teenager appeared from
between the parked cars, opened her car, grabbed her
hand bag and made a
run for it. When we started yelling at the thief,
the poor woman went
to investigate and the other group (including the
guy who said he had
been hit by the car) left the scene.
We did report the incident and just wanted to warn
you to be very
careful in the carpark. I usually lock my car doors
when I get in my
car and I will be much more vigilant when reversing
out of a car park.
This happened at 3.30 in the afternoon!
