I own a VK 5speed 202, been running on 16*7 VT SS rims for 6 months at least and handles like a dream. No power stearing and lowered 2 inches or so. Recently got some 18*8 VY SS, put them on, rides ****, handles ****, its loud, stearing geometry is gone to hell and its sluggish.
Only Differences I can think of is the change from 225 to 235, but thats hardly a difference. The offset is the same isn't it? The other thing is that the 18"s are 45 series, probably a bit big. Thus making the diameter of the tyre maybe 4cm or so more.
Dont really care what I need to do I just want it fixed, I may just take it to a streering joint or something. Maybe adjustable strut tops? I thought the 235's would have scraped? Guards arn't rolled.
Just thought you guys might have an idea. How the hell do you get your VL's to handle with massive rubber.
Thanks
Michael

it could be the offset.the bigger the wheel you go the ****er the car will handle, a 16" wheel is the best for handling were as a 18" is only good for show.

Its always gonna feel worse with larger wheels. Larger wheels feel the bumps more (read: Rough as guys). Handling can be a number of things, but I would say its the wheels trying to always run in straight lines ( they like to go straight and if there is bumps it can sheer off ie like on tram tracks it would prefer to follow them and if it turns it will sheer away with it)
Any chance u want to sell those 16" ers

Thanks Guys, I'm still mucking around with the two sets of wheels and changing this and that. If I can get the VY's to a piont where I'm happy I'll definatly be keeping them, which means I will be selling the old ones. Could be a few weeks though.
I'm the sort of person that would go for looks over power and drivability anyway. lol
