If you change your engine from n/a to turbo with a different engine number and the brakes to vlt specs and front mount inetercooler, what do you need to do to make it legal in Adelaide?
Do you just need to tell insurance that its a vl turbo and the registration office the new engine number. Does it need to go to Regency or not?
im not sure. i havnt actually done it myself. it was done to mi car b4 i bought it. but insurance dont know the engines been changed. not sure about rego though. hopefully someone has converted here and will be able to help u out
Just call up the rta and tell them you have swapped engines, because vl's came out in n/a and turbo u shouldnt have to get it engineered.
Blinkme1a - If you are insured and have an accident you wont be covered, infact if its not ur fault but have some sort of illegal **** in ur car you might not get insurance either.

DriftArab. yeah i know, there was no way i could get insurance with the engine. so the insurance is with the stock engine. i just gotta hope that any accident i have doesnt have anything to do with the front end lol. stupid i know, but i know of a lot of people that do it.
chucked a different motor in one of my old cars a few years back, they said if the car's registered, you can just tell them the new engine number, no worries. but if the car isn't registered, they have to "sight" the new engine number eg. literally look at the new engine [and number], which would've been just a person from the TransportSA branch.
so i just re-registered the car, then rang up and told them it had a new engine! ?? doesn't make sense to me, but oh well!

that's REALLY dodgy mate! the insurance companies crawl ALL over crashed cars, checking engine numbers, VIN numbers etc.
one of my cars was turbo'd, and not legally regoed that way, so i had a contingency plan lol! had all the gear to whack on a standard exhaust, intake and carby in about an hour in case i got in an accident!
still very very dodgy, but! never had to use it thankfully
yeah. im actually not 100% sure if its regod with the engine. i think it mite be. but yeah its not with insurance. i will just have to work something out. i dunno wat. tell em i cant pop the bonnet or something lol and cut the cables right bak lol. . if need be a can get the stock engine quick smart. i dont drive stupidly so if i crash it wont be my fault. i just have to be careful
