It will soon be time that my 5-speed will need to be reconditioned. I was just wondering what are the cheapest and the best places to go to in Sydney?

man if ur box is stuffed buy a second hand one for $200 or 300 then pay someone to install it, not hard at all

david that what i did and i got a crappy one with 2 synchros out, and the rest went out as i drove it.
i got a few places to do a full rebuild for $1000 including RnR (remove and replace) these prices are swap and go.

Yeah i dont want to buy a 2nd hand one because if i do, the one i buy couldnt alomost be on its way out anyways...
My mechanic said he can recondition my gearbox for $650... I dont know if thats a good price or not.. Is it?

yeah 200-300 aint gonna get you a good box or the equivilent to a rebuilt one.
It would be a lottery if you get a good one.Well for that price anyway.

yeah good price and at least youll get warranty mate.
go to your mechanic if hes trusted and yeah get that better the devil you know then the devil you dont mate.

with that price mate he will reco your box but if gears are damaged they will incure an exa cost, a reco means just changing bearings and synchros small stuff like that.
