just wondering wat cars are good quality for around $2000 - $2500, as i'm looking for a decent car to get me around to work and soccer etc.
and if ur gonna say "VL" dont bother coz im never getting one again after what happened to mine yesterday.
so far ive got it down to these **** boxes:
*Nissan Pulsar's (late 80's)
*Holden Astra's (Pulsar rip offs)
*Nissan Exa's
*Toyota Seca's
Im not familiar with these cars none of my mates own any..Any ideas on which are the better cars etc?
thanks
hey mate,
Read your post and yeah im ashamed of them fools who took it.
But now your moving on mate i just thought id let you know the toyota secas are good even the early model ones.
Get a fuel injected one hey heaps good on fuel and will never be stolen.
If you do get vl withdrawals dont worry theres enough of us local blokes here to take you cruisin around no sweat.
Ive been threating locking my car and all that after hearing your story but its only a matter of time before the scums try to steal my ride too.
They tried before but couldnt start it so they just smashed all the windows and kicked my guards in.
Luckily at the time the car i had (vlt) was insured for much more than the damage done and yeah i scored a new paintjob and tinted windows so ha ha wannabe thiefs.
i Will keep my eye out for a nice toyota,You can always chuch a 20 valave in her and blow a few vlts off no worries.
hey mate thanks for the vl cruising offers im sure i'll get withdrawrals with another car dammit.
it worked out awesome for u with the new paint job etc but with the one u hav now there's only so much u can do ay..
i recommend fuel kill switches in a VERY random part of car. because they just tore my dash apart and found my one which stops it from kicking over.
i used to hav an alarm but last time it got broken into they popped the bonnet and had enought ime to destroy it b4 being chased away.
ive got it down to a Pulsar or Seca and ur right they wont get stolen which is a massive worry i can finally get rid of everywhere i go!
so u reckon the Seca's are qualitly cars huh..thanks 4 that because i always thought they were shiite narrow minded me.
and guess what, today i hav to pay for the vl to be towed off a soccer field otherwise the council is gonna bill me atleast $200!
daynm why not get a r31 skyline or pintara keep it bog stock and add turbo one of my mates did this car never gets a second look. i admit they look like boxes but hey least u will have the same kinda feel as your vl, well the pintara wont lol
I used to have an 87 pulsar hatch... never spent a cent on it in 3 years.
My g/f has a holden Nova (toyota corolla) 1992 model - great daily reliable car
haha the skyline, Pintara idea i dunno about that..having a sleeper is a smart thing to do but yeah those 3L engines the vl and skylines had r annoying always sumthing needs maintenance.
im leaning towards the 5sp Pulsar Hatch.. got sum from trading post im calling tonite

Nah - as long as they havn't been driven into the ground, they are one of the most reliable, smooth engines around actually, looks like you'll be in for a surprise whem you get another car
I reakon an R31 would be good, your pulsar idea is not bad, but for that price you won't get one of the good looking, newer kind of ones (n13 or so). Make sure you get a manaul though, the auto's are gutless.
Don't get an exa, they are farking ugly
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
yeah definately a 5sp manual no auto poo boxes..
an exa is better looking than those old skylines and pintara's they are the worst!
plus its a temporary car so im not overly fussed
i work on the docks and since its on the water, sea salt is an enemy to any car so i bought a ford laser 88 model for $2000 off a guys wife from work the little car has never let me down and i re registered for the 3rd year now and still going strong, great on fuel and reliable.
pulsar is most reliable out of the lot, carollas are fantastic too, we have 2 in the family, you'de be surprised how gr8 the fuel economy in the old carbied carolla's is, comparable to the brand new echo
