Hey, i have purchased a unfinished project EH with RB30e. previous owner reckons the engine always over heat and he never had a working temp guage hooked up!? first thing ill do when i get a break from work. Has commodore radiator, 10 inch thermo but talkin to a few radiator shops they tell me these motors run very hot and this wont do. They mostly said not an easy problem to solve, didnt really want to touch it, more or less recommended to track down a custom aluminium radiator. sounds expensive surely i can get this this running right with the commo radiator, maybe add extra thermo and quality coolant.!?

a 10 inch thermo is too weak, you need two 12 inchers or a big 16 inch at least. the main problem will be that hot air cannot get out of the engine bay, this is why the VL has that grille in front of the wipers. you can fit cosworth bonnet vents or get something made up like what's on the EVO's but it will be a bit tricky to fit. getting more air to actually go through the radiator when the car's moving is also a good idea (ie ducting it)

1st thing you need to do is mount a 16" on the back of it, and sheet it in so the whole back of the radiator is covered except the fan, this will increase pull from the front while the car is not moving and increase your cooling power buy heaps, then if that is not enough up grade to a bigger row radiator, go from the 2 row say to a 3 or even 4 row, it will work sweet
