Has anyone got a funny story about being pulled over or being sent to court?
i got a funny one mah couzin told me about him when he had his Ford GT 351 faze 3 or what ever you call it in the early 70's.. he was driving through a shopping town street when hes mates waved to him so he planted the foot and went from 1 end to the other of the shoppin town in basically 2 seconds and slammed into a chick reversin outa her parkin spot believe it or not he was to blame but in court he won! the court didnt believe that he could of gone that fast in such a small stretch of road! and that the ladie driver was at fault and wasnt looking when she was reversin! she had to pay for all the damaged done to the GT and cop the cost for hers too!. the GT was wasnt bent so it was repaired

i have heard stories of guys having big v8's in little cars and when the cop was looking for the enging number the guy who owned the car pretended to find it on the block and just quoted out the original engine number to the cop...

Um, when i got out of the car when i got caught doing 143 up the freeway the cop just goes "Do you WANT to lose your licence?" Although i didn't think it was funny at the time, i think back and have a chuckle...i also had the nerve to ask him if there was "Anything he could do" so i wouldn't lose my licence and he replied "Not for going 43k's over the limit".
I've heard a few stories, not sure if legit or not, of excessive speeds being let off because of cops being bored basically and wanting some action. Ricer got let off for going 40~k's over speed limit but got done for a BOV....another let a guy go because they, the cops, went over 160 to chase them as they just wanted some fun...dunno if legit or not.
Also my gf's step bro is a cop, him and his mate were dragging down these old windy roads and crashed my gfs grandfathers (step bros grandfather in laws) real expensive car (no idea what car...it would of been expensive though...). Now theres responsibile cops for ya!

I had to go to court, ended up spending a grand on fines/court fees/lawyers/new licence fees ...
I was speeding probably 6-7 months ago...I had 3 mates in the car too all paro as (2 in the back were legless and the one in the front was just drunk...he asked how many people in the car went to check and i go "THREE!" so he wouldn't walk over there. I know it was irresponsible with people in the car but hey, i'm glad i got caught speeding, learnt me a lesson.

hahaha when my grandma was young (hahaha) she used to be a bit of a lead foot. Anyway she was lined up at a set of lights on beach rd (melb) and dragged these 2 guys of the set of lights....anyway they got up to about 140 - 150 and the guys turned out to be undercover cops, and they put there siron on and pulled her over and booked her.
So then she thought that was a load of crap and took em to court. Turns out in court that the 2 cops got done for enticing her to race/drag and then letting the race get to high and dangerous speeds before pulling her over... The court gave her a warning and let her off. Pretty funny for a grandma story.

01-06-05, 23:33 GMT+10#14 I heard that years ago.
it's got many different tales:
had redlight/speed camera and guy without seatbelt/talking on mobile/whatever infringement.
Also: ShyVL you stole my avatar.
On topic now:
I got pulled over down in armidale by a local cop, I was speeding a bit (about 10km/h over), so I was like "ah crap... here come's a fine... ". He came upto the drivers door, gave me a breath test, had a bit of a chat about the days when cops were roaming about in vl's and sent me on my way. He was a champ of a cop.

02-06-05, 11:57 GMT+10#15 you'll love this story...
Four youths from Canberra pulled off a trick of breathtaking bravado in order to gain revenge on a mobile speed camera van operating in the area. Three of the group approached the van and distracted the operator's attention by asking a series of questions about how the equipment worked and how many cars the operator could catch in a day. Meanwhile, the fourth musketeer snuck to the front of the van and unscrewed its numberplate. After bidding the van operator good-bye, the friends returned home, fixed the number plate to their car and drove through the camera's radar at high speed - 17 times. As a result, the automated billing system issued 17 speeding tickets to itself.

02-06-05, 12:07 GMT+10#17 A few years ago I got pulled over by a massive cop speeding crew (doing like 70km/h) on this particular suburban rd at the top of the hill around the corner. Whilst one cop was giving me a ticket, another cop decided to check out my WRX which was only about 3 inches off the ground at the exhaust. He asked me about it and came to the conclusion that as I had low profile tyres on the car, it had made the rear of the car drop down.
After I had said that I had not heard of Regency Pk (Where SA defected cars go to have their car cleared / inspected) and was really distressed that the tyres had made my car low , he didnt want to trouble me with having to pay $50 to have it inspected there so gave me a cop station canary instead.
The defect was stated to be Rear exhaust section too low, so I took the car down to my local Police Station the next morning with my factory brochure showing a large AWD Drive Train image that clearly showed the exhaust going under the diff and not over. I explained that the cop mistakingly thought that it was an aftermarket jobby and he didnt understand that the car came like that from factory. That was why the exhaust appeared to be too low.
The sympathetic cops came out and checked out the car and agreed with me (I wasnt completely lying!) and made a phone call to have the defect cancelled then apologised to me for the incident. They were also very excited to see that the car came with 18s, a 5 Apexi exhaust, race harnesses, pillar gauges and a shift light from factory too
(I also know that since then, one of the cops from that station still has a very modified WRX getting around since seeing mine!)
Another time, cops pulled over my little 1960s car and decided to have a look in the engine bay with their mag light. After fiddling with the bleed valve and looking at the turbo, intercooler, plenum and oil catch can, they said You know you have a little oil leak at the back of the motor there. Yep!

02-06-05, 15:55 GMT+10#19 haha WA is cool
i was doin 54 over once... didnt lose my licence... just 6 points and $350
another time i was doin 160 in a 70 zone on my motorbike, and far back in the distance in my mirrors i saw these tiny cop lights flashing.. so i slowed back to 70kph, it took them a while to catch me, they pulled me over and said "hey mate can u please slow down a bit" and i said yep and went home
I was lucky
another time after motorvation (Big WA Car Show) at night, i was driving around with my entrant numbers and stickers on my windows still and bald tyres on cop rims which i used for a few burnouts at the show, and i was getting chicken treat for a mate and i went around a corner and planted my foot, and there was a cop coasting behind me with all his lights off. and i didnt see it until i was putting my foot down around another corner. so he pulled me over and i was ****in ****ting i would lose my licence and my car coz of hoon laws, and i got out of the car and the cops waved me off and they took off. i jumped for joy

04-06-05, 17:03 GMT+10#20 lol, i mate of mine told me this story that on new years him and a mate were cruizing the beach in his VS berlina, VERY nice car... and had his exteria neons on...music pumping...as u do...n then a bus for of cops turned there sirens on, so he turned his neons off...cop come to his window n says, why did u turn ur lights off when we turned ours on...so he replies...well, ur lights are exciting, they flash..mine just glow, so i thought id give u some attention, seeing as u seems to be getting none...
apparantly the cop didnt like that remark so he told him to get out of his car, and his mate...gave it a very thourough once over...came out clean, coz the dumb pricks didnt check ride hight... bout 86-90 mm....anyways, cops like, thats pretty loud, what u got in there...so mate replies, a stereo, and the cops like...what a house stereo...so he pops the boot...all explode, custom setup..thye cops like...faaaarrrrkkk, yells to the bus, all of a sudden 7 other cops come over n have a look...then the cops like, how loud does it go...n hes like, loud enough to get booked. so he handed the remote to the cops n told him not to go over 40. lol
