search mate.. www.wageline.gov.au (http://www.wageline.gov.au) all the award rates are on the site,...you can get a fair indication of what you would be on.

m8 its about 200 first year, 270 2nd year and 350 or somethign third year n im not sure wat 4th year is... if u are concerned about paying things off mechanics isnt a trade to get into... its long boring hours, apprentices usually get picked on, your hands look liek **** like all cracked, stained and have cuts all over them. the job is verry repeditave and in ya 1st year at mostplaces u will just clean up.. and do simple jobs. u really have to make sure you want to do an automotive apprenticeship before u rush into it... make sure that thats what u want to do coz u willp have to put up for atleast 3 years working ya ass off for a few bucks. samie

seriously, to slave away 4 years of an apprenticeship, only to earn ~$18 an hour at the end of it.... bugger that. not saying thats what all mechanics get, im sure those working at prestige service shops might get more, but most dont. tho open up your own shop and watch the dollars come flooding in. a diesel mechanic in the mines will earn HUGE money (ive heard figures of 200k). but then, so will anybody working in the mines, even if your just shovelling coal.
