hye guys just wondering wat anyone would pay for a 6cyl VQ Statesman (1993 model) auto about 180,000km, all the goods like climate conrol electric windows n so on.... unreg, unroadworthy by the way
any help would be great

$5000, maybe 6000 tops if it's good condition. V6 VQ's are worth quite a bit less than the V8's, and no rego will devalue it even more.

yeah the v6 is fair bit cheaper as its so rare.. dont expect it to be quick tho, thats a 1650kg car with a little v6, its be a nice cheap cruiser tho

the only good thing about the vq is all **** gizmos. Dude they are a boat! actually if a vn is a boat these are ships. dont get me wrong i love statemans more than any other holden... they look fat as if they are on the ground. But the 1990 v6 stato is nothing special in any way. At least with a NA VL cal they are light, go well, have an alright auto and are one of the best looking early commys. i'd pay good money for a V8 caprice with leather in good nick. but if a stato doesnt have an 8, they just dont sit right, ive read that they constantly are downshifting under any acceleration...

That's your personal opinion, I completely disagree with all of that.
Only good thing is the gizmos - You could say exactly the same thing about a VL Calais. Or any luxury car for that matter.
1990 V6 Stato - No such thing, it's a 1993 model. Yes there are big differences between the series I and II VQ's.
NA VL Calais - Alright, I'll agree they're light (which is a bad thing when it comes to luxury cars), but I wouldn't say a NA VL (especially an auto Calais!) goes well. I also think VQ's look better.

31-05-05, 19:15 GMT+10#10 That one's a Caprice, with VS center console
Doesn't mention the km's on the site though, so maybe it's been flooded and killed the electrics? Got some wires pulled out from under the dash too. People still pay stupid money for a flooded one though... I remember at the auctions a while ago, someone bought a VQ that had been completely flooded for $6500. None of the electrics worked, engine was covered in mud, interior was still wet, etc...
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah especially the caprices! you'd be happy to get the foglights, chrome strips at the front and the leather interior and just sell the rest off..
I rang a wreckers a while ago and they said $700 for the PAIR of FOGLIGHTS and didnt have any of the chrome moulds but they would be about 600 lol

Yeah, I know, Caprice parts are worth a fortune. Cheaper to actually buy a Caprice, strip parts from it and sell the rest! Looks like someone's already flogged the horn pad from the one above.
I still think the VQII Caprice is the best looking car Holden has ever made. Even today, almost 15 years later it still stands out. Look how boring new Statos/Caprices are, they don't have any of the little touches like the old ones had... Glass C pillar, chrome strips across the bumpers, rear wheel arch spats, etc. They're just LWB Commodores now.

they arent as individual... BUUUT.. their interiors destroy our models, they are larger, and the wk's have dvds in the headrests as standards not to mention they are 200kgs heavier yet lots quicker than vqs with the ls1... they win me over, id love one!

I agree with that... The interior is easily the biggest letdown on older Holdens. It's sad when my mums old base model TP Magna had features a top of the line Caprice doesn't
Who cares about speed anyway when you've got a 304 under the bonnet, sounds better than a LS1 any day

01-06-05, 14:32 GMT+10#18 Give me a VS grange anyday! The best looking car when its so low at the ass that you can only see 3/4 of the wheel because of the straight wheel arches. i'll throw up some pics of my mates vs caprice on 20's soon.
