Guy's,
About to embark on a rebuild and looking for an Honest/good engine rebuilder. Have any of you guy's heard of S+L Performance. The Guy works out of an Ampol Petrol Station at Brownsplains. Seen plenty of good lookin cars at his shop Vl's and Skylines. I told him I had about 10 g's to spend and he told me for that he could build me a 10 second engine drive in and drive out (Head work, new forged pistons, everything crack and pressure tested, New turbo, Intercooler, Stainless exhaust etc).
Also said he has a custom cam that is his own specs etc. I thought ok that sounds alright. But when i asked him about the plenum he said just using the stocko. I also asked about the auto and he said "Their strong as and all it needs is a shift kit for an extra 450 dollars" which I thought MMMMM. I dont have ten grand to spend and in a month or so if it goes bang rebuild the F#$%r again. I have heard bad things about Belowzero . The brock shop is apparently over priced as well as Bob Romano . I think it is APC or JPC at Underwood is apparenlty good but take a fair while due to workload.
Anyone that you guy's recommend. I want to drop in the engine for the rebuild and after the panel work drop the car in for it to be fitted.
Any suggestions would be good. My dad has thought of rebuilding it for me but has never worked on a RB30.
Cheers
Imtorqing

he built mine, he knows what he's doin, but have an idea of what you want when you go to him. And never tell them you have xxx dollars to spend, cause they will spend it all, whether or not you needed too!

I agree with Andy, the aforementioned trendy 'performance shops' are a f ucking ripoff, more suited to import drivers with 2 much money, who drink latte's at park road, wear leather jackets, have craig david style beards and talk about overhead tailshafts and modified custom dipsticks. Myself and Andy are getting ours done by prosport, when... i couldnt tell you, probably 2006.

25-05-05, 09:31 GMT+10#14 Hey I saw your head at Alex's. It looked great and he said it was going into a VL and I thought it may have been yours. He does an awesome job. I have never heard anything bad about Jack Bros either except the price- you get what you pay for but!

marko time to go back to your 1st year apprenticeship and vacuum the boss's office for 5 dollars an hour so you can afford dialup internet and 2 minute noodles.

LukeVL ya the head turned out well and so did the bottom end the engine itself its starting to look to make some decentish power but just some other bad luck turn up lately other than engine problems so i have not made it back to the dyno for the big tune but hopefully soon
