Hi guys, My Walky needs new tyres for the first time since I've owned it, and before buying a set I thought I might as well check other owners' experience for recommendations. At the moment it's got some nameless "made in USA" brand, which are pretty awful - lots of understeer and hopeless in the wet. They're 225/50 R16, and I'm happy to stick with that over the size that originally came on the Walkys. The car is just used on the road and sees no hard use (apart from the odd traffic light drag) or competition use, so I don't need any super-sticky and super-expensive ones. Any recommendations, or any to avoid?

A Good Basic Tyre In The Size Is A Sava Intensa It Is A Directional Tyre Which Is About $130- $150. Try To Stay Away From Nankang, Hankook, Nexen, Bob Jane Allrounder And Just Cheap **** Like That. THERE IS BETTER TYRES ON THE MARKET BUT THE PRICE GOES UP SUCH AS THE DUNLOP SPORT 3000A ABOUT $180- $210 AND THE TOP OF THE RANGE THE GOOD YEAR F1 GSD-3 ABOUT $200-$230.

whoa, nankangs are fine, sava's are well.. i've been advised they last a lifetime because they don't grip to anything, nankangs would be the pick for price, else go some pirelli p5000's if you want some grip and longevity, yokohama A539's for pure stickyness

I have 225/50R16 Sumitomo HTR50Z on my walky rims on my calais, no understeer whatsoever and feel great.. about $160 each, made in Japan...I also have the Bilstiens all round which i think make a huge difference....Billys are std on walkys which is sweet as..Get them from claremont distributors in sydney, and have other outlets Australia wide
