Ok fella's, my diff finally let go the other night and its time to get a new one...Ive been searching around for a while up here for a nice diff, however my options are very limited... Ive decided im going for a "Drive in drive out" job, - I currently have a 10 bolt single spinner Disk brake diff and was wondering what my options are and the best diff i can get for my money. I have $1000 to spend in total, I dont want a spool, I want an LSD..I want it to be able to handle decent power with out winging....Ratios anywhere from 3.5 - 3.9 What do you guys recommend? to save some cash I'd probably get your existing diff rebuilt. How much damage was there? Are the axles still OK?

hehe, I would love a nine inch, but finances are pretty limited... The axles are fine in the old diff but the centre is minced....what price would i be looking at to rebuild it with new gears and centre?

i cant see why you couldnt get a disc brake rear end 9 inch LSD with 3.7s for under a grand.. and just put it in yourself Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

You reckon I could? I thought they were ****loads...and then there was shortening them and modifying the mounts? Theres a dude on here selling one for around 2k Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Personally I would never fit a 9inch to a vb-vl, I would go with a v8 salibury lsd, or a 28 spline borg warner lsd, from a vl turbo. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

It was on its way for a while...it was just when i hit second gear..about half throttle...and it just went CLUNK, then made the most attrocious sounds you could imagine...I was only 200m from my house so was all good..

The vl 5ltr or turbo diff is the best upgrade on a budget . You will require the rear part of the tailshaft but everything else will bolt up . The only negative is the rear track will increase about 7 mm per side . Dont bother with the 9 inch , to heavy to much money . adam

I have to talked to a few guys who have run 9" 's in the past, be alright in a drag car, but they all felt it had upset the handling of their street cars ( I live in a rural area with 100Kmph roads). The BW 28 Spline 4 spider ( VL Turbo) is a bloody good diff, and made to fit VB-VL . stock 9"'s are also quite over-rated in the strenght dept. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

if u wanna pay for shipping, theres 2 VL V8 diffs in WA for sale, one has 3.45 LSD and the other is 3.08 single spinner. If VLT's can do an 8 second pass with these diffs, they must be ok Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
