Hey fellas, I need your help.
My car has a LINK ECU, and no-one in Cairns has the progy to do it.
I spoke to Leigh Holman a few weeks ago and told me there was a top bloke down there who is great with the LINK tuning.
The problem is... I dont know who he is? Is there any chance you can ask a few mates about it?
Im coming down from Cairns for the Ingham show on the 27-28/05 so I was hoping to get my car tuned, or atleast take it in to be looked at while im close.
Cheers
Ry

The workshop in townsville that deals especially with links is crawford mechanical, however i've also heard that tms can tune them aswell. If you want a full on max power tune with only moderatly reliability and not alot of streetability then you should go and see crawford however if you want a safer tune, with less kw's, but with alot more streetability i'd take it to TMS.
Crawfords tune only on the dyno whereas TMS will tune it on the dyno to start with and then take it for a street tune. This will make the tune alot more streetable and things such as no load cruising and the like will all be sorted out. Having friends who have taken their prides and joy to both shops I would say take it to TMS, and so would both of my friends, hint hint. I'd imagine the price would be approximatley the same at both shops give or take $100
Whatever you choose here are their details.
Crawford Mechanical - 6 Veness Crt Garburt (Behind Mike Carney Toyota) - 47753811 - or afterhours - [phone removed]
TMS - 46 Camuglia street, Mount Lousia - 47746707.

ps. Looking forward to meeting some of the cairns boys at Ingham car show.

Yeah, i will give both a call and check out their prices. It would nice to have a full power only car, but i couldnt afford to run the *******.
I want decent power, with efficiency. So probably TMS is the way to go.

Well lets just say my friend who went to crawfords won't be going there again! TMS, imho is a better, safer option and is where i'll be taking my torana once the driveline is sorted out. Im not running a link but I think they do pretty much any computer you bring in.
Give them both a call and see what they say, you might not want to go to either of them.
Why don't you get an autronic and see Ray Hall? What are his prices like?

Spoke to Ray Hall over the phone... lets just say, i wouldnt let him even replace a bolt on my car. I asked him about some work to be done, and he bagged my car because it was a VL, bagged it because he "deals with only highly modified" cars and he "wouldnt touch a LINK ecu because they are ****".
What a fcukin moron. All i wanted to know was if he could tune LINKs.
He was wrong in all 3 of his quotes. Vl's are sex, my car not highly modified? wtf, i hadnt even told him about my car, and LINKs crap?? $2000 for an ecu is crap?? LINKs are great for VLs.

Yeah links are really good on all rb engines. However I went a haltech, just as good i reckon.
I heard Ray Hall is abit like that. He is the dealer for autronic in Australia so he obviously rates them higher than everything else. Some of the cars he has done are bullsh!t crazy but yeah doesn't mean he has the right to bag your car, each to your own and i reckon vls and rbs are the bomb. From seeing some of the cars he's done i think he's abit of a holden man, which I guess is a good thing. Despite what i've heard about him, i've heard his work is second to none, like that good if you've got a turbo hes the man to see.
Go to TMS, he'll talk to you, tell you what he wants to do and then see if you like it, if you don't try somewhere else. I've only spoken to him once and he seemed very supportive and decent. Although when I said I wanted to put an rb30et in my torana, I think he thought I was abit of a joker, I get it alot though.
What have you got done to your rig superry? Is there a thread on it in the ct feature cars?

19-05-05, 13:10 GMT+10#11 With that engine bay you should definatly be on the offical calaisturbo car list!!! It looks sweet as dude.
With relation to what those people are saying in your cars thread. Plug in links still use an airflow meter which relays information to the map sensor, however I think the map sensor also gets a vacum/boost line aswell, not 100% sure but yeah they definatly use an airflow meter.
Looking at the mods you've got you should be able to run a mid to low 13 at the townsville strip with a decent set of slicks.
Have you decided where your gonna get it tuned? Whatd you think of that thread by petes_vlt? His car is now running 12's and he is taking it to ingham for a kamakazi dyno run, gonna run over 20 pound which i think could end in death for his standard bottom end. He is then gonna rebuild it with fully forged internals or so i have been told neways. Would be good to see at ingham though.

20-05-05, 18:56 GMT+10#13 Yeah, i'll be giving TMS a call sometime early next week. Ill be leaving Cairns at about 12:30 so hopefully ill be down there and atleast drop into TMS to have a word with him. Even better, he might be at the carshow and i can have a good chat to him about it. Might be able to tune it better before i do a run with the hand controller... anything is better than nothing.
Thanks for the help Cal-a-kid, you've been a real help.
I appreciated it mate.

22-05-05, 19:33 GMT+10#14 Superry. You can buy a link cable from Crawford for about $120 Ive got the software and a wideband 02 meter if you think you could tune it we might be able to help you out.

23-05-05, 12:35 GMT+10#15 Hey Ed should take the laptop and wideband to Ingham car show.
Superry has the dumppipe off your turbo got a bung which you can screw an 02 meter into, if so you could go for a drive with Ed and you'll be able to tell if its running rich or lean. Then if you got the serial link from crawfords you could play around with the tune yourself.
Would be worth doing, but its up to you.

Oh by the way, I know your joking. But im just pointing out a fact. Rb25's have less litres man. I could understand if you said an rb25 head on an rb30 block was better? But single rb25... No chance -- Get that conversion done straight away
