VH was last 308 (think last 253)
VK was first 304 (think they dropped the 253 at VK)
VN first 304 efi
suss www.justcommodores.com.au (http://www.justcommodores.com.au) or www.justcommodores.com (http://www.justcommodores.com) (not sure which) for more detailed info.

But when did Holden stop using imperial and start using metric. My VH had 3.3 stamped on the side of the engine. Thats what I wanted to know.

that's right. VK Group A saw the introduction of the 304 as engine size had to be reduced for Group A racing rules as the 308 was over 5 litres and would have copped weight penalties for racing, so they destroked it to 304 cubes and just under 5 litres (4.987). Basically, Series II VK onwards was 304. Series II's had the slide doorlocks vs the pullup door locks of the earlier models (except those cars with central locking of course). As someone said, first EFI 304 was VL Group A but prototype was actually in a VK SS.
