My VL 304 came with the stronger X rods factory, I think most of them did, The engine numer will tell you what it is. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

All VL's (V8)came with the 304. If it has a 308 in it then it has been converted with something like a VK block. The VK had both 304 and 308. The 308 is like series 1 and the 304 is series 2. This has been covered a heap of times.

Some of the VL Blocks are still stamped 308, as are a few of the cranks. Not all 304's have 5.0 on the block. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
