thinkin bout headin to next drag meeting and wondering if it would be a waste of time due to the gearbox (n/a 5spd) weakness? i planned on trailering it to and from the strip due to the likelyhood of poppin it. But should i just sell up while its still good and put that money towards a better gearbag? My car is making a bit over 183rwkws @ 12psi and ive also got the option of runnin on my mates slicks aswell. all coments and discussions will be most appreciated guys thanks

with slicks its going to bite heaps harder, do you have a mini spool. i would pull it out and change it to mx7 asap

They arent that weak! the MF5's.. You may aswell go try it and see how it goes but are youo prpared for a new box? I wouldnt run slicks.. as thishurts your driveline bad and seeign tis a NA 5 speed... and youv got a single spinner?you need a LSD (so much more stronger)? If you still have got the single spinner.. you wont get any traction with 180rwkws+..

Slicks are more likely to break it *IF* you have a good clutch in it. If you have an organic ****ter, chances are the clutch will slip first, reducing the shock load applied to the box. If its a button of some type with plenty of clamp pressure. It will load the driveline up preety hard on high rpm launches.

ive got a vlt lsd diff lined up and will be going in before the meet, i wouldnt even be bothered using the single legger. The clutch is just a heavy duty organic with a modified pressure plate for more clamp. If it does slip it mustnt be too much cz i cant notice it. I am planning on going auto but i just dont know weather to sell this setup and put the funds towards that auto before i bust it??? On take offs i usually punch it round 4g, no more.

yeah the box seems to be in good condition, it was a rebuilt unit roung 18months ago. This one has lasted round 8months but the H/D clutch was only put in bout 2-3months ago.

you'll be fine. they're pretty strong, just don't do anything stupid. The benfit you would gain by having an MX7 is that you could launch harder, therefore decreasing your 60 foot time, the key to any good run down the quarter. Basically, you won't see your cars full potential due to you launching softer. If you're confident though, give it all she's worth. After all, it's just an MF5. They're worth bugger all.

The MF5 is not worth that much anyway.... Just try it Or if you have the funds get a MX7 or R33 box and sell the MF5 before you drag it.

The only thing not mentioned is. If you aren't located close to the track it can cost big $ to get the car towed once it gets smashed. Money that could be invested into the box in the first place.

Low 12's with good traction and launch. Fair bit of work to get to 250rwkw in a RB25 though. Bigger turbo, injectors, managment etc etc
