There are so many different kinds out there, and all the technical stuff that goes along with them is confusing the hell out of me a bit (im from a rotary efi background and in the parts place im working at now i have to know a lot of v8 carb stuff), so i was wondering if anyone knew an easy way of working out what kind of carb is suited to what kind of motor. And also terms like spread boar, double pumper etc etc. Any help would be great!! thanks

I will try and answer some of your questions. You have 2 main types, squarebore or spreadbore, quadrajets are normally spreadbore, holley can be either. If you look at a 4 Barrel Squarebore, all 4 buterflies will be the same size. If you look at a 4 Barrel Spreadbore, the primaries are far smaller than the secondary butterflies. Then you have vacuum or mechanical secondaries ( Vacuum opens when it feels like it) Mechanical open when you put your foot on it. A Double pumper carb has twin accelerator pumps. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
