For sale is my Hawk EC21 EMS. head on over to EFI hardware (http://www.speed-technology.com/efi_ecu.html) to check out full specs. basically it is a complete management system like microtech, autronic, motec etc but much cheaper because it's australian made.
it tunes in 125rpm increments and has a higher resolution tuning map than any other ECU out there (perhaps bar megasquirt) for very fine adjustments. it does closed loop for good fuel economy also.
i will include with the package:
- Control unit
- Full loom to suit Z18T 4 cylinder (just so you can steal plugs off it if you're using it on an RB30) which even comes with the three critical relays so you can just wire up about 10 wires into your existing loom and it will run.
- Water temp sensor, ECU is calibrated to this. you can calibrate your standard RB30 sensor fine also if you desire.
- Air temp sensor, calibrated also
- 3 bar (30psi) map sensor for big boost applications
- Delco TPS which you may or may not use, you can calibrate your standard TPS to work fine if you desire
- ECU-computer comm cable
- CD with wiring diagrams, software and a full manual which describes every detail about the functions of the ECU
- A base map which is suitable for a modified VLT running standard injectors. this will cut tuning times drastically saving you dyno time and money. all cold start and accel enrichment details are in there already.
the reason for sale is because i just found out this ECU is only useful for conventional distributor engines (so yes it will work perfectly on an RB30) and i have an RB25 head with individual coil packs, which it will not run. it is a very versatile ECU and i have played with the software which is very easy to use, and has a live-screen dashboard readout which is extremely useful.
looking for offers over $800 which is what i paid for it a while back.
pm me or reply here, i'm happy to post it but you pay ($15 or so anywhere)

unless i run a pulse splitter - but i've also decided to go AFM and the powerFC is a plug-in job to the R33 loom. saves a lot of hassles anyway. other than that, the ECU is very very good for an RB30 and has been used successfully before in VL turbos.

ugh.....yeah...... three bar map sensor still comes with ECU. unless you can re-seat all 24 valves in my 25 head, install all the valve springs with new stem seals, source 12 inlet valve guides as mine are rooted and face my block for me.......... then i will GIVE you the 3 bar map sensor.

you do realise they cost $130 from Motec right?

you do realise you're a butt plugging anal bandit right?
p.s. when you want something from someone, it pays to ask nicely. i was seriously considering giving you the MAP sensor for a carton too.

02-05-05, 17:32 GMT+10#11 yep still for sale - also have a set of 440cc GTR injectors which are a direct replacement for the standard RB30 injectors, they will get you to 300kw no worries. they've been cleaned, flow tested and checked and i will package them all with the ECU for $1100. otherwise ECU is now at $750. had a fair bit of interest but no serious buyers yet!

04-05-05, 23:52 GMT+10#14 does it allow you to throw away the afm, does it have a boost controller inbedded in the ecu and is it already configured to the standard settings so i can drive it to a tuner

05-05-05, 00:09 GMT+10#15 no boost control, i would suggest a jaycar kit anyway to eliminate all boost creep. yes you can throw away your AFM if you choose, or alternatively wire it up for that "stock" look and use the MAP sensor instead, just hide it somewhere. there is a base map which i will send with the ECU which has 90% of the hard tuning stuff (cold start, hot start, accell enrichment etc) already done. just trim your fuel map all over to suit bigger injectors and you can drive it anywhere no worries.

05-05-05, 15:24 GMT+10#16 Is it easy to install, basically, how much would I be charged to have this fitted to my car? Do any other changes have to be made to the car or is it simply a case of connect and away we go?

05-05-05, 16:05 GMT+10#17 easy to install if you know your stuff, or have done an ECU install before. if you haven't, a pro will charge maybe $400 to wire it up, shouldn't be more than that. if it is, they're ripping you! you will need to plumb the air temp sensor into the plenum with a tap, and perhaps put the coolant temp sensor into the radiator line somewhere if you want to use it. calibrate the sensors and away you go. the instructions tell you how to do all of this.
anyway may be sold, have a serious buyer but will post here when it's sold.
