i know a couple of people have done it like that Blue walky. but out of curiosity does anyone know what involved? some say its a overly expensiv exercise like $20g+ and some say you can drive in and out for $15g with possible change? there was a bit on Street commodores but non of it made any sense. too many people were arguing about price and not really talking about what is involved so post some thoughts people. be interesting to see what involved. and what conversion kits are out there? with ease of mods and being new motor this would have to be a great choice in conversion for those wanting a V8

yeah after reading some stuff sounds like only problem encountered was the sump hitting Xmember. i wander what else like air con and power steering because if i was to get the conversion done i wouldnt want to loose either of em.

it would be no harder than doing a small block chev conversion besides the wiring... the sump on chevs faces rearwards but thats where our crossmember is (or is it the other way around) either way that needs to be changed. The starter motor im pretty sure is on the drivers side and that needs to be changed, apparantly the oil filter is in a bad spot too so u need a relocation kit for that. Then u need the engine mounts, and also a custon set of extractors. Then you need to get it wired up and a fuel system to match, this is on top of buying the ls1 and the gearbox itself and getting them to mate with the diff... u could buy kits to do it tho and make it easy however they dont come cheap! look here for all bits and prices involved: http://www.castleauto.com.au/efigen3c.htm

Alloy heads, sequential injection and a roller cam and they run as smooth and make power as easy as the ls1 anyway.

second hand about 4g for the motor and about 2g for the box, or new they sell the motor in crates with no accessories for about 5500 u would need a custom loom to get it to connect up to an earlier model and a rewritten computer chip id guess here ya go COMPLETE!! thats tempting Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I considered this when I had my VS 5ltr 5 speed. It worked out roughly the same to do a decent turbo or whipple supercharger setup. Or a really nice stroker http://www.comeracing.com/engines.htm Don't you just love their wording. i'll say $20k sounds about right. by the time you get the box & engine in, cross memebers, talkshafts, diffs computer, tune. ect. ect. its not an easy fit either, i've seen one in a vn. its pretty tight up in there

Do u need to mod the sump or not?? im pretty sure the starter motor needs to be relocated, castleauto sell that adaptor for $350 Engine mounts are $160 Loom is $750 (u could get someone else do it cheaper than that though) Extractors are $600 as far as the computer goes well they sell the reprogrammed one for $450 changeover (just go buy a second hand one for $50 and save $300 on the changeover price!) AFAIK these are the main bits and even they arent extremely too high priced so where does everyone get the 7g+ conversion prices from?? assuming u got the box and motor for 7-8g....
