i hope u guys know a vl is number one on the victorian list for most stolen cars along with hyundai excels of all things Lots of stories on here that they are getting stolen, wouldnt it be logic being the most stolen car in victoria that u would get a damn good alarm and immobiliser?? lot of you dont seem to have one. The common thief cannot get around it... a good thief yes they can find a way but u have to make it hard. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

any form of alarm/club lock straight away deters a theif from attempting to steal a vl. They are the easiest to steal. Most doors will open from a screwdriver and you can start them with either a house key, another vl key or a shifter straight on the butterfly clip then turned to turn the barrel and start the car. Most theives are just kids my ages wanting a bit of an adrenaline rush n a thrash session. You can do thingfs in other peoples cars you wouldnt dare to do in your own and if it gets smashed who cares its not your car. Word gets around very fast about how to steal what, hyundai excels can be stolen with a pair of scissors. The average kid isnt gunna carry a spare steering wheel (gone in 60 seconds style) and change them over so that they can steer a car with a clublock. Try not to ever park your car out in the street and dont leave valuables inside your car visable. This makes it alot easier for the thief and alot harder for you to hear them. If the car was in a driveway it would probably require pushing out which theives dont always want to do. If you own a good head unit take the face plate off unless you have a decent alarm. The majority of thieves arent professional, and the professionals arent really after vl's, they want higher end cars like wrx's and stuff they can strip and sell. Another good detterent for vl owners are those solex door barrels, they definately cant be opened with a screwdriver and lead to alot more time wasting for the theif. A theif does not want to waste time they want to be in and gone. If your car looks too hard they will just keep looking as there are plenty of vl's around. Thats just my experiences and advice im 16 but ive learnt alot on the streets which helps me prptect my own car.

whenever mine leaves the sealed compound that is my house (electronic access gates plus its in a carport round the back that you'd have to push it UPHILL to get it out) im driving it, i dont drive the calais turbo to go anywhere, i drive it like once a week or 2 and thats always for the sake of driving. So if its not at my house, im in it, full stop.

you use the leads that are hanging down from your engine bay.. or you leave the lock on your boot and leave the battery in there.
