Yeah... What makes these ****s think they have the right to steal your pride and joy... Nothing worse.. Especially when you've been working hard for ages to get it the way that you want it, then some rotten **** decides he's gonna take it strip/wreck it... Hope your mate gets it back ey.. All the best.

not a very educated guess but i would say by now that car is stripped. I feel very sorry for the guy whos car it was. ford lasers are for joyriding vl turbos are for stripping. Thats what i heard somewhere before prob that nrma insurance i think.

someone would have either stripped it by now or rebirthed it if the body hasnt been found.

really these days theres no such thing as a decent alarm system. you could have a $1500 alarm and everything but they will still manage to get it if they want it they will get it sumhow. i know of a VL that was towed out of a car park and it was a NA VL emaculate White with front calais lights and rear calais garnish. Everything was standard except 16 inch fake zepters it was just put on a truck and taken to bush where they then busted the door lock stole the rims and then lit it up. just for 16 inch fake zepters they dont care. i think they thought with the calais lights and 2 tone white silver it was turbo.

I have to disagree with that, sure, if a "Professional" wants your car then they'll get it, but as for the other 99% being joyriders and the like, then a good alarm will save your car. My alarm is worth $1,000, it has 3 imobilazation points, all black wiring, remote enty, microwave sensors....etc..... and is certified by my insurance company. As you would know, VL's are the most stolen car in Australia, so to have a half decent VL without a good quality alarm protecting it, is just plain ignorant and the owner has no right whinging about it when it's stolen!

why would someone use a tow truck on a vlt which is gonna be worth 15k VERY MAX?? if they went to all the trouble to use a truck wouldnt they go out and take an STI or a merc or something worth it, which would probably be very tough to steal otherwise??

hate to inform the un-informed but black wires mean ****. you could have all different colours for different units anyway. all you gotta do is follow the starter motor wire till you find a relay... then bridge it. same with power etc. colour means nothing. black wiring is used as a marketing term to suck anyone into thinking its good. all power wires have a fuse, so you know exactly what that is before you follow it along. i could go on all day, but basically yeah it will stop joyriders for sure, but don't fork out extra dollars cause some company uses black wires. a $50 jay car alarm will stop joyriders. i'm one step further, not saying what of course, but basically my car will only be hotwired and started when they remove every and the very last peice of interior. the most effective immobilizer is something you think up and self install. an alarm is only there so you know when someone's got into your car at night when your asleep or whatever. it won't scare them off, its to notify you if your around.

heh,...just face it 99 percent of normal car thieves will not touch a car with a decent alarm, but the pro's if thewant it will take it.. Simple easy mods can be done to reduce the risk of a theft, like fuel cuts ect. Never ceases to amaze me how people spend heaps on thier car and fail to think of the priorities...like an ALARM!

yeah, when ppl say i just got my car what should i do? ANSWER. get a good security package in, screw modifications first. no point doing exhaust and stereo ($2000+) then having it stolen.

"uninformed", who the f uck do you think you are? I mentioned those facts because most Insurance companies require them - do you understand? try getting Insurance for a VL without an alarm system! As I said, a good alarm will stop 99% of thieves. I certainly wasn't bragging about how much I spent, I have no problem with the outlay, so why did you take my reply so personally?

yeah and if you f u cking understood my point you would work out that apart from the red tape purpose of needing black wiring, in the real world they are still ineffective. god take it personally if you want, but i'm telling other dim wits who would go out spending a fortune on an alarm that doesn't help any more than a cheaper brand. wires are wires, and crooks know how to get around them. fair enough you need it for insurance, but don't let that false sense of security make you feel any better. it will only stop a 16 year old and his group of mates thrashing your car, or first time crooks.

most thieves that know what there doin carry a couple of long wires with them with alligator clips on each end to bypass things like fuel pump and coil cut offs as for the starter motor cut off its pointless if its a manual and if its an auto all that needs to be done is a use screwdriver to bridge between the power wire and the exciter wire. my car has 8 switches that must be flicked in sequence or nothing happens thats in addition to all door locks inside and out bein deleted and a decent alarm all of which ive put in myself so unless i have a big mouth im the only person that knows how to start it. ive went to the lengths of hiding the coil in the car and making coverplates for both the starter and both fuel pumps its necessarry when you have a modified commodore.
