After a PM argument with a member asking me to prove that the standard V8 engine in a VL was a 304, not a 308.. Showing many threads from this forum and others reffering to it as a 304 wasnt enough..
For anyone wanting to know.. here are 2 links to show they are 304s..

poons....Didnt you kids pay attention at school?? I didnt learn much except how to get drunk and that holden dropped the capacity of its V8 to 4.9 from 5.0 to comply with group a racing...

They were required to be under 5L for group a racing regulations, so they didn't have to carry deadweight I believe. It's 4.987 L's, 304 ci... not 308ci.
The whole point of this thread was to convey the fact that VK and VL's had 304ci v8 engines instead of 308ci.
Pretty sure most (VK/VL's) HDT cars have 4.9L stickers on the engine.
just finishing an argument that started on the for sale section where a member was so certain he was right, that everyone else didnt know what they were talking about.. he has excepted he was wrong, thank you (you know who you are), i just put this up here with those links for anyone interested
Series 1 VK were 308,series 2 VK were 304 to comply with international group A rules of over 5000cc gets a ballast penalty,to me they are good old 5.0L and now LRP is getting fazed out the ULP VL 304 is a good base for a project.
not just vls, all the way up to the series 1 vt's were 4.9L too, everyone just calls em 5litres.... coz i suppose its quicker and cooler to say than 4.9 litres
bore pistons and rods were the same, the cranks stroke is what changed the displacement, stroke went from 3.065" to 3.025" i believe.
