so i got my self some brand new hurricane headers fitted today. In the shop and before they put them on they were a nice purdy colour of this special silver, and i was told that it was some high temp crap blah blah blah. Took me a whole 15 km's to get home from the shop and i was keen to see how they looked, opened the bonet up and they already flaked all the paint off!
They go pretty good but if ur lookin for something that wont look like sh*t after 15 km's or a week, buy some others like pacemaker or something.
By the way i got nothing wrong with them besides that.

I haev wildcat extractors (ordid) and the paint on it stuck very easily!
It was a bit rusty so i went and pulled em off and bougth some high temp paint and on idle it would sit there and smoke and cook!
Absolutely crap as it only lasted what you said... flaked off and bubbled!

16-02-05, 17:52 GMT+10#10 I sprayed high temp paint on mine, 3 coats no surface prep.. Just in a test spot to see how it'd go.. 4 weeks it took too peel.
Get them powdercoated.. Who cares anyway

16-02-05, 18:50 GMT+10#11 Exhaust before the cat is too hot for most paints, i'm sure nasa would have access to a paint that can withstand that heat. High temp engine paints are intended for engine blocks etc not exhaust headers.
if you want to hide the rusty finish then wrap the headers in a heat shielding.

16-02-05, 19:24 GMT+10#12 imo the wrap is uglier then a bit of flake. after a while they'd go all greasy and dull and look just as dodgy.

if by that, you mean going turbo, u realise u won't need extractors then....
and on another note, your ment to bake the paint onto the extractors ain't you? I painted mine black (high temp paint), ran the car for like 20 seconds, left it to completely cool down, ran it agian for about another 30 seconds, left it to completely cool down, then took it for a big drive. paint didn't flake at all. Its been on there a few months now, and looks as good as it did when i put it on.

17-02-05, 19:24 GMT+10#16 I got advance extractors a year and a half ago and the silver paint is still their. Dunno why. If you want them to look really good and last is get them heat coated or some ****. old man had this done on his extractors and they look mad and help keep temps down in engine bay. bit pricey i think but.

19-02-05, 22:18 GMT+10#19 Yep my wildcat extractors were a bit rough. I cleaned them up and sprayed them with VHT paint and they look fine after 6 months.
