Hey guys, i wanna get a rough idea from you what i should b paying to have my berlina resprayed in its original colour (a freshen up) of champagne gold from the plastics up (bonnet, roof, boot, front and rear pillars <not the black around the doors> nose cone and the sides to the bumpers and plastic but NOT the bumpers or plastic or below) the acrylic paint on it now has no cracks, its just blemished (oxydisation) badly but not through 2 metal, it has 2 shallow dints in the nose cone and afew <read 4 or 5> tiny "supermarket" dings in the doors.
i was quoted
- Place number 1 - wouldnt even touch my car to paint, but would roll my guards for $25 per side but wouldnt do anything about split paint (if it did)
<$100 total with maybe crap paint on the guards>
- Place number 2 - $2500 to have it done in 2pac and then another $250 to have the gaurds rolled
<$2750 total>
- Place number 3 - $1000 to be sprayed in acrylic by a bloke at work (supermarket) that does it for a hobby, in his back shed, thats removal of the dings as well, and he'll probably do the plastics for an extra $200 but havnt seen any of his work so i dont know how credible his jobs are.
<$1000 total without guards rolled>
- Place number 4 - $1200-$1500 to have it sprayed in acrylic and have the guards rolled at the same time and major dings removed
<$1200-1500 total>
- Place number 5 - $1200 to have sprayed in acrylic without dings removed or guards rolled.
<$1200 total>
thats how far i've gone so far with quotes, what sort of price should i b paying?? seriously?? i really don't care if its in acrylic instead of 2pac because i just want the car to look clean again and just shiney really, dont want it show car quality, just 'new car' quality with the dings removed and the guards rolled. And it only has to last like what, 5 - 10 years coz i dont plan to have the car for more than maybe another 3 or so years now (already owned it for 3 years), and if i do, in all seriousness, i must have big plans for it and b getting a decent paint job to go with them!
so what do u guys recon??

well for number 1.most people dont like rolling gaurds and paint can crack... so they cant garentee anything.. but good price.
if youve got the money id go number 2, id say thats taking the dents out too... but it sounds cheap for 2pac.
number 3. get some pics of the work hes done.. mines been repainted by a guy at my work (although he is a painter) he did a good job i think. might turn out nice like mine.
number 4, if thats professionally done, and your only keeping the car for 3-5 yrs. might be good to go this way
number 5, dont bother,if your gonna get it respayed get the dings removed, and roll gaurds otherwise tires might hit and stuff tha paint anyways
thats just my opinion but hope it helps

2500 is pretty cheap 4 a full 2k respray, being champagne gold its clear over base so theres color and clear. if u strip the car urself and give it to the shop no lights, handles trims windows if ness etc then ur not paying labor for r&r. if ur gonna keep the car paint it 2k acrylics a waste of time in my opp.find a painter and get on his good side. i did my car 12mnts ago cost me 500 for materials. anyone off the street 3500.
