Man this is soo depressing reading some of these posts, I would like to know if anyone has had any success stories with a stolen car? Did posting on calaisturbo help at all? What kind of condition was the car in when you got it back? or insurance scams!

well my stolen and burnt out car was then stolen by someone posing as a council removalist
i hope they goto the rta and register the engine in a car like the dumb ****s they are...
that would be cool though... they spend some money on the engine, make it better, nice turbo... and goto the rta and out come the cops and give me a nice new engine back?

Not a VL but the old mans BA xr6 got pinched after he had it about 2 weeks. Found it the next day. They took the 18"s and left it on 17"s. Didnt take the wallet/credit cards in the car, only after the wheels.

Had the calais turbo stolen by joyriders, ended up being chased by the cops and t-boned by another car, got the car back but kind of a wright off. I'm sure if they didn't get caught it would have got torched and never seen again!

Jeez not many... thiefs here in SA must be dumbass's cozi know of 3 cars getting stolen and all got found
1- VL wagon- nicked from school carpark, mates all went out looking for it, found the guy parked a few streets away sitting in the car looking thru it, the guys that found him called the police straight away and didnt go near him... but he got arrested!
2- VH 253- nicked from school again!, again mates went out looking, police found the car later that day, turns out they ran out of fuel and couldnt get the fuel cap open. But they made a hell mess of the new paint job he just got.
3- Uncles VY SS, got nicked from his house, found a few weeks later in shopping centre carpark!, no damage and nothing stolen.
So there you go, hope that brings some hope to you unlucky guys out there

27-03-05, 21:56 GMT+10#10 Here's a success story that might make you laugh. I sold my VK 5.0 wagon to a mates brother (who is incidently a bit of a nutcase!). He had it for a few months, using it as his daily driver. Got knocked off from Collingwood in broad daylight. He was real pissed off, but just assumed he'd never see it again. 6 days later he's driving down Punt rd, stops at the lights, sees his wagon stopped at the front of the lights on the opposite side of the road. Jumps outta his car and runs over there, drags the driver out and starts *****ing him up, his missus runs around trying to drag him off, gives her a few too, resumes on boyfreind with a few more boots then do-gooding bystanders run over and pull him off, junky *****s make a run for it, car returned in same condition, albeit with a few used syringes lying around. Thorough clean took care of that. I guess they just stole it to get around, then decided to keep it. Dopey junky (unts!

28-03-05, 12:51 GMT+10#11 i had my grandparents vn stolen out of my driveway early morning. it was found few streets away, motor still running, bald right tyre, and glove compartment empty. funny thing was the person who found the car was a cop, coz it was found just behind her house. but this all wouldnt have happened if they used a steering lock.
