RB25 Cam Gear suit RB30?

Howdy, Had a few differing opinions on this subject... Will a cam gear designed for an RB25 suit an RB30? I want an adjustable cam gear so I can get the most out of my "Lukevl Performance(tm)(c)" cam grind, but seems rather hard to find a made RB30 adjustable gear, and I'm pretty sure slotting the holes on a stock cam gear is not the proper way to do things RB25 ones are plentiful, so I might grab me one. I had someone (over the net... hmmsers) go and compare a RB25 gear to an RB30 gear and they claim it to be identical, but I dont wanna go off one persons word. Specifically worried about offset more so than teeth size and seperation. Anyone know? Cheers, Krawler Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

NB - The thing that makes me wonder the most is that most cam gears for RB25s specify INLET or EXHAUST... Is there a difference between them, and only one will suit an RB30? Or is it just for the wank factor of having the word scribed on the gear?

Rb20, Rb26, RB25 exhaust, Rb25 inlet (NON VVT), Ca18 are all the same. RB30 has the same bolting face but a different offset. RB25 VVT inlet is different to all of them.

Friend just tried fitting a rb25 one on and it is indeed the wrong offset.

Some guy on ebay was selling ajustable VL ones. I think he modified the original and made it ajustable.

Is there much benefit of a cam gear on a SOHC motor? Whatever adjustment you make, will effect both inlet and exhuast sides being SOHC.

Yes and no, it allows you to advance or retard the cam if your dialing it in. In my case having an aftermarket cam with its optimium dial in point between two teeth allows me to set it correctly. Also it allows me to fiddle with it on the dyno. I dont know who made mine but its a factory wheel with the centre machined out and a aluminium centre with slotted holes and markings on it. Its very well made.

As per my original post, its needed to get the most out of the cam grind I have.... It needs to be retarded a tooth on the belt, but I didnt know this when I got it back so I just put it back in at standard cam timing. I figured rather than just notch it back a tooth, I'd get more accurate adjustment by using an adjustable gear. y0.

Yep, bought mine from ebay off Brett from these forums as someone else has just mentioned. You supply him your standard one, he does it from that. I also had LukeVL do me one of his cams, works killer. PSI.
