Car was broken into (kinda) again tonight, was left in a driveway for prolly 10-15 minutes, while i was about 5 metres away inside the house. the car was unlocked SILLY ME, lol nothing but a bit of coin stolen, but they had a good look through the car, might be time for an alarm i reckon

best car security is either u sit in the drivers seat sleep in the farken thing with a 12 gauge in ur lap or u rip out the back seat and buy urself a big ass rottweiler and leave it on 24 hour guard.

any alarm is good, price for quality is a good guideline. black wired alarms can be expensive and in the end of the day a good theif can still get through those systems anyway. did you know that an alarm can effect your insurance in a negative way, as they look at it as being a modification that costs money that they will ultimately need to cover. it is dumb but that is how they see it. i wish i could outline my alarm system but it is one of those secret details i don't announce. i paid bout $550 and it is a little above average.

VIPER alarms or COBRA alarms arent too bad......and with some of them you can get a remote start as well just like in mine!!!! I had some goon with a 30/30 walk up to my car one night and had a go breaking in. I started it and i think he **** himself and ran away LOL. Only problem with remote start is they only work with fuel injected engines and it is very adviseable that its an auto, they can install them on manuals but if you try and start it in gear shell take off on ya!!! I know belive me i install the *******s and have seen it happen.

my alarm has paging, remote start, immobilzers, sensors galore, installed $550 . i got a manual and the bitch has got away from me twice with remote start. mainly because my car was moved and they left it in gear. but i turned it off before it crashed. one time was real close at the beach, the other time it went 20m up my street when it was on the road. the best way is to install the alarm yourself and hide the processor and relays etc in weird places so theives have longer looking for them. when i do my fuel pump wiring shortly it will be very unstock and have dozens of switches. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

tashvl, i dont know wether its just that brand of alarm that can only have remote start on efi cars, because i have an avital alarm on my car its an american brand, be4 it was in my car it was in a nissan bluebird, it wasnt efi and we had the remote start hooked up, and refering to the car starting in gear yes what a c#nt it is, my car was stored at our shed where we restores cars and stuff, a mate decided to do a burnout in his nitrous vl and it set off my alarm, they went to turn it off hit the start button, car started, took off, hit a freshly painted mr2 then went into an engine crane then the crane went through the roller door, costly f#ck up

spewing the alarms should have a safty feature that wont let it start when its in gear my car is an auto so its not a prob but the alarm can be installed in manuals but they should connect a safty switch that wont let it start in gear

yeah i think most of the alarms with remote start do have some kind of a sensor on the autos and manuals to stop it from starting in gear. As for usage on carby jobs....the alarms i get in and install actually void warranty if used on a carby motor. They can be used on direct injection diesel engines as well. I have installed alot of them in my district as i can get them direct very cheap and i can install them. Brands i can get are Cobra and Viper which i use the most. I have the pager type model in my car atm but is pretty useless as i dont have power windows but its got sensors and also you camn program it to say things like "Step away from the car" etc. You get laughs from them as well.

With new cars you can't start the car till you push the clutch in so I don't understand why you guys can't install a p|ssy button around the clutch pedal and connect that to the alarm to prevent the car turning into Herbie.

Forget the clutch cause you would have to be in it and that defeats the purpose. Use the neutral position switch off the gearbox to determine in/out of gear then.
