G'day guys, I have sort of wondered over here from ford forums. Ive got a turbo EB falcon /ducks from flames. There seems to be more relevant threads/ people with turbo experience on here than over there so it has been very helpful so far. Anyway My car is putting out 202rwkw on 10psi and has run a 13.67 at 105mph with the standard engine and auto trans. Boost doesnt come on strong until about 50km/hour, stalling up the standard convertor doesnt help much. A standard manual falcon will have me until 50km/hr. What would be better to help boost come on sooner, a lower diff ratio or a 2500 stally? The car is mainly driven on the street but i like to go to the drags now and then. It only has a 3.27 diff currently. Thanks for your help. Dan Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

What is the turbo and the setup? It's hard to make a decision. Any decent turbo should spool fairly quickly on a 3.9-4.0litre motor? Sounds like an ill matched exhaust housing, or something restrictive in the system. But petros is right, both rear end gears and histall with help get the car singing off the line.

The higher the numbers the higher the torque multiplication, hense better power off the line, but at the cost of top end speed... I'd personally put a smaller turbo housing on it, as you have a standard engine and are not aiming for big power, just want it coming on sooner... Just my thoughts.. What kind of turbo is it? Also an aftermarket boost controller can help to make it spool faster.. by keeping the wastegate closed for longer.

Its a GT3540 similar to an XR6 turbo. .50 front housing, 1.06 rear. Im running a wolf3d, 578cc injectors, front mount cooler, 3 inch exhaust. Its the 4.0 litre engine, dead standard 200,000+ kms. The 1st gear on these falcons is pretty long, I think it hits about 80-85km in first. Would a 2800rpm stall be bad for driving in traffic? That is why I was tossing up between a stall and diff gears. I dont want too lose much top end speed because Im aiming for 330rwkw in Feb when I have a new bottom end ready. But i also didnt want to sacrifice much driveability. Thanks for the help.

What kind of boost is it running to get the 200rwkw? wouldn't be much What sort of exhaust manifold are you using? I'd say a 2800rpm stall would be perfect, and some 3.7:1 gears down back would have her squating really hard on take off. oops, you did say how much boost, sorry mate.

Its running 10psi for 200rwkw. Its a tubular manifold design made from steampipe. There is some pics here if your interested. the dyno sheet was on 3psi and standard exhaust system. The pod has been moved to behind the headlight. http://members.optusnet.com.au/~dansedgli/gallery.html

I'd be hesitant to put a stall in unless you were strengthening the gearbox at the same time, a stall will make the gearbox run hotter and therefore it will probably blow up sooner, try putting 3.9's in the diff and see how that goes.

Dunno about 3.9's, considering a Ford 6 wont rev as far out as a RB30 and you wouldnt really want it screaming all day? How about an .84 instead of the 1.06 rear. Build a tough auto. You'll need it if you're after 300rwkw+

I might chuck in a diff from an XR6, they are LSD and a 3.45 ratio. I dont have LSD right now. It will only cost me a few hundred. Then Ill get the stall converter done in Jan. Im only planning to start the next engine in Feb. It might take a while to build. So the trans should be okay for now, it has a big cooler and decent shift kit. If it dies Ill put in a C4 or something depending on if I can find someone to build my 4 speed or not. Thanks for the help guys. Dan
