hey guys..
just wondering if anyone knows what it roughly costs for a fitter to install a lpg system?? assuming i have all the big parts (i have converter, mixer, and tank)
anyone got a rough idea, and who to recommend?
Either Gas Research in Dandenong, or if you want to travel to Ballarat theres a bloke who does a good job not far from here.
Installing gas is hard to quote on, but I'd say $500-$1000 depending on whether you need the fuel tank removed, fuel system removed, intercooler pipes changed, and some tuning.
gonna go on a non turbo rb.. so wont need any piping e.t.c price sounds about right.
Morgo what other parts are expensive from here if any? i have the tank, converter and gra throttle body...
Dandy is a while away from me tho, ive heard of rapid flow in hoppers meant to be good.
Sounds like your pretty much ready to go, installing the lines can take a while, and mounting the tank, but it's not a big prob.
You have the parts needed, and being N/A makes it a fair bit easier, as like you said, no piping to worry about..
Best of luck with the install, I'm sure the guys in Hoppers will do a great job.

I'd say it would be more like around the $1000 mark.
I know GRA dandenong charge $70/h labor - thats going to add up quick!
You will need heaps of new brass fittings, hoses, lines, clamps mounting bracket, etc etc $$$
New safety lock off $50
How old is the converter? More than likely need a new one - $185 (B2)
Gas line $150 and up. (Get 8mm)
Wiring? Are you running duel fuel?
Is the T/B mixer set up for a vl?
Adaptor plate?
And because you have not bought the system off the installer they will probably charge for every labour hour they can.
You could install what you can and then take it to the installer.
ie; mount the T/B and converter
Run the heater hoses to converter and whatever else you think you can do.
I have installed everything myself except the gas lines
I just need to get it dyno tunned.
*Now i just sit back and wait for the huge amount of PM's about gas systems* hehe

what a rip on the gas line, i just bought one for $100.
Geoff, get the yellow pages and start makign phone calls. thats the only way to get a good price.

Thats how much gas places charge each for gas lines and you cant do it yourself - legaly.
You mean you got a gas line installed for $100? or you bought one s/h?
Details?
converter isnt new but was just serviced and it is a b32.
Going to be running straight gas, the mixer is actually a gas research throttle body i should of cleared that up.
Still sigmund u reminded me of something, whats the best idea to go about getting an adaptor plate to fit the t/b to the vl plenum? or any plenum for that matter
and oh yeah, is it expensive to get gas carbies tuned?

Ok, for straight gas you will need a primer wired up to enable starting.
You can get a plate welded on the plenum to bolt it to.....
or, you can buy an adaptor plate from GR that bolts onto the plenum , then you bolt the T/B onto the adaptor plate.
It costs about $170 to tune a Turbo VL at GR (Dand) it would be cheaper for an n/a.
How much did you pay for the s/h gra stuff? And is it a S400 ?

geoff, on the na plenums the plate has to be moved up by about 10mm just to clear the rocker cover.. i'd say that the adapter will make it too lnoig to get the fittings on the underside of the TB to clear everything.
Just weld on an adapter plate. it bolts to a XF pattern, so it shouldnt be hard.
Sigmund> lets just call it one of my talents.
The line i bought is 5/16 flex line as used in 4x4's.

I have mine on with the adaptor plate. But yeah very tight fit against the rocker cover.
Whats one of you talents? ... you haven't said what you did?
You installed the line yourself?

No as in a full installation, not just fitting, basically driving your car in and then driving it out on straight gas or dual fuel, i meant with providing everything sorry :P np mate.
