hey just wondering what extra stuff would i need to do to the engine and car in order to run a supercharger on a NA block. do i need to change to forgies or can i keep the originals. also any extra help would be appreciated especially on quality of superchargers. i was thinking of an MR2 supercharger. good choice or not??

u need lower compression so u can either use different pistons or use a decompression plate which is way cheaper than changing over the pistons castlemaine rod shop have supercharger kits for na vl's for bout $1800

u really dont wanna do it, better off doing a turbo conversion, those little jap turbos are weak as piss and too much bull**** for too little result.

Do a search, theres a few really really informative threads. That blower will do, and set aside 700 or so dollars.. Lowish boost is all you need, don't worry about compression, forgies or decompression plates.

id say have a chat to "stockymcstock" as he has done a s/c conversion on a RB30 with good results using a Toyota Supercharger

stockymcstock used the same supercharger as the rod shop kit, but didnt drop compression, put a lumpier cam in, also already had extractors and bigger exhaust in, and made 130rwkw with half the boost the rod shop has listed, pls correct me stcoky if i got it wrong. The good part is he kept his power steering and air in the car still, thats the way 2 do it! if u wanna drop compression so u can run higher boost save up and drop an rb25 head on, then it should be good for up to around 12-14 psi, but you'de never go that far with a sc so its all good. But if u dont wanna spend that much find a mechanic that can make up a thicker head gasket and swap it over with ur old one. Decomp plates r really dodge, the thicker gasket will lower compression and be much mor reliable than a decomp plate and wont cost much 2 swap over.

But if your going to bother dropping the compression you may aswell go get a turbo or an expensive charger.. As the pissy little toyota blower + low compression would be pointless.

Meh here is my setup, I did this about the same time stocky first got his system going.......but I had to remove mine after a rather large crash....I was sitting at the lights and got rear ended by a stupid F**kwit pensioner..... But now, I'm going to be back with a Twin cam RB30, and a blower...bwhahahhaha Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

bextor84 all in good time, in my opinion the 1st thing 2 spend big on is the head, then overdrive the cheapo toyota charger till it dies, then get a better charger, but a good charger with 9.0:1 compression would mean u cant really run much boost at all safely, and that would really spoil ur fun wouldnt it? looks good nizmodore, is your blower mounted 2 the car aswell or just the engine? did u have 2 cut away at the metal? did u take out aircon or power steering? btw if u got power steering i think i gotta fill up ur container a bit, looks a little low
