I was considering ditching the VLT project I had planned and go for an XY 351, after seeing my mate's one lol. Just wanted to know, is it legal for P-platers to drive this? and will I be able to get insurance?

Unfortunantly its a big no, my friend bought one when he turned 18 for his p's then was told he wasnt allowed to drive it before he was off them.
He waited in pure agony to get his full liecense and has been driving it ever since thren.
Oh yeah hes ford crazy!

my good mate has a xy 351, gt replica and he just says its a 302 or a 302 with minor work, he has spoken to a fair bit of police officers and most say its ok to drive a worked 302 but if it was the genuine 351 gt then no

my mates got an xb 351, in the original owners manual the 351 has 240kw stock but im not sure about the weight.
BTW, we got pulled up one night and the cops were more interested in going over our mates stock mx6 with all the usuall wings and crap than the 351 with the shaker out the bonnet, they told us to take off and checked out the mx6 for about 10 mins.

06-12-04, 22:30 GMT+10#18 XY's are fair collectable these days, and more so if you get a genuine 351, so don't expect any miracles when it comes to trying to get insurance.
But luckily the Clevo's had the same block, so essentially a 302 is a 351 with new crank, rods n pistons
