That Sux.. quick question how did they get in? was it alarmed? I had my other Commadore broken into a while ago (VK wagon) the pricks stole my stereo and then tried to steal the car, they couldnt start it but stuffed the ignition barrel up in the process. They got in by putting a screw driver under the door lock.

Sorry to hear mate, will keep an ear out for anyone trying to offload this gear. That's the problem with having a killer stereo setup, it attracts thieves, and easy to sell. They might not steal the whole car, but the damage they do by ripping it out. People have no respect these days. PSI.

im guessing they just used a commodore key, cos there is no damage to the car in any way, other then the boot install which is ****ed now. car was imobilised but the alarm doesnt work, so it stopped them from stealing the car itself. and it had a club lock on.

how much does it cost for a central locking alarm and immobiliser? someone told me to buy that all this gear and fill the key hole with putty so screw drivers cant do the trick to break in anymore. and then change the far back passenger window (the triangle one). because apparently on VL's you can just push it and it will pop right off the seals.

Yeh, Im with Ted. Some mates! Had my VL stolen whilst it was @ the crash repairers. Barsteds left the car outside the workshop after doing some painting with windows down and the car unlocked !! Derrr! The car was recovered about a weak later minus my stereo, speakers, CD's & cassette tapes (yeh i know, some of u wont know what a cassette tape is!). heck, they even took my tow ball! They'd side swipped another vehicle whilst it was at large, f@*ked the suspension, gearbox, and exhaust. But the worst part was when the insurance company tried to tell me that i would have to make the claim from my insurance and not the repairers, even though i was told by the insurer i had to take the car to this particular repairer! That means i had to pay the excess etc and also meant that i was not fully compensated for my total loss because my lost personel items were worth more than the measly $300 i was covered for. I guess i was lucky though. The insurer bungled the whole claim and spent way more than the car is probably worth and should have been written off as a result. Rebuilt gearbox, $5k in panelbeating and painting. new stereo and speakers, replaced exhaust system and shocks. All up around 8-9k spent in getting the car back and the insurance value at the time (approx 3yrs ago) was $8500. I still reakon the car was tampered with when it was found though, coz the repairer claimed they gained entry to the supposedly locked vehicle by lifting the rubber seal at the top of the front door and manipulated the lock with some wire between the window slot. I think its crap myself, far easier ways to break into a VL, but i could never prove it. Even the cops were no help in trying prove the tampering
