i need to know everything i need for a conv from vl calais auto too rb 26 twin T 5 speed i have got a complete half cut with trans i am mainly concearned with gear box set up and wiring ,4x4sump anyone that has done this conv
please help. what else am i up for and how long should it take if i have everything ready any help please
dude its very very simple. i was going to do the conversion with just rear wheel drive. i have an rb30sump converted for the rb26 and was going to get a rb25 gearbox. however i was going to be getting an aftermarket ecu which ment that i needed to have a rb25 loom also.
in your case if your going to be doing the awd conversion to your vl then youll have to change all your struts and i think you need to youse the skyline hubs also.
i dont really know that much about the awd conversion but all the other stuff is easy. if i was you i would go rear because you decrease you weight heaps as you dont need the front diff and massive gearbox the rb26 has.
Also your vl will have to be fairly high off the ground for the 26 gearbox.

Need a custom sump.
Modify power steer setup, different harmonic balancer on RB26.
Modify firewall or get custom dump pipe if you are using stock twin turbo arangement.
The RB26 4WD gearbox is useless as it has the transfer case for the 4WD arangment. Track down an R33 RB25DET box, which doesn't have all the 4WD stuff.
Just a couple of things i can think of, off the top of my head.
dont need any more help thanks for the info just got twin turbo rb30 motor too much hassle with rb26 changing too much in the engine bay i will be picking it up in the week as it has to be removed from previous owners car i
will put pics up as soon as i get it home if anyone is intrested. Alot of money has gone into this motor and it looks alot better than a rb26 ps and the rb30 came with a microtech i will start a new thread when i start work on it
