hey people how are ya'z.
i recently stuffed my 10 bolt salsbury. now my car is quite the bit low. i have k-mac springs (minus half a coil), 18' by 8'' wheels and an adjustable panahrd bar. the panahrd bar is centred si this is not a solution to my problem.
my problem is that the vlt diff is a bit longer than the 10 bolt. when i had the 10 bolt in the car did not scrape unless i had a full car load. now that i have the vlt diff it scrapes with just me in the car and its a constant scrape as in on melbournes smoothest road it will scrape without any bumps.
it is not the lips of the 1/4 panels it is the iner 1/4 panels just above the lips. i have tapped the inner 1/4's out a bit but i cant go to far other wise i will damge the outside of the 1/4's.
so my Q. is have others had the same problem as me and how did they avoid this? thanks heaps for your help, steve
P.S i know this may have been covered before but its really hot right now and i cant be stuffed searching, LOLZ
If your car is lower than low and you put big wide wheels on it, then it will scrape. It sounds like it's scraping really bad, I don't think any amount of panel beating will fix your problem. I would say you will be forced to either get different offset wheels, or a shorter diff.
if your wheels are 1 piece then it soulds like it'd be worth taking them to a good machine sho and getting them to mill a few mm off the surface where tha mag bolts to the hub.
iirc the vl diff is 15mm wider than the sailsbury..
im having similar dramas with my 17's but they are 3 piece so i might get the offset changed if it gets worse. ( havent had a car load of people yet )
thanks heaps for that fella's.
MADDNEZ- i love your idea man thats brilliant. i will definently look into getting the wheels milled cause i have a heap of room on the inside of the inner 1/4's. thanks heaps once again
SikCalais, just makes sure, and i mean 150% sure, that the studs dont bottom out on the hub after milling.
you wouldnt want to snap everything off back there hey....
so long as you dont go crazy, you should be right.
Measure up the flange/flange width of the sailsbury and the BW.
then figure out if you can take half the difference off each rim. might not be possible, but you should get close to aleviate the problem somewhat.
