Fella's i've been working my arse of on this car for 9 months
She's all together
She Kick's over
She has fuel (fu(king thing seized melted the wiring)
She has a shlt of spark (that hurt, note to self don't hold the screw driver when in the end of plug)
but no start
how what else can i check,
buy the sounds of it the injectors arn't opening,
any idea's would be great!
also i have 5 computer's and arn't sure which one is the turbo one, is the any number etc to tell the difference!
i think the turbo one has a red sticker on the chip and n/a one has a yellow sticker on the chip, but you would have to double check that one, check if ur exhaust has any blockages but if it cranks over it cant be anything with valves, it'd have to be a fuel prob, chekc fuel pressure just before and after the fuel rail, maybe u can find where the blockage is
To help kick start it try opening the throttle and spaying a mist of petrol down its throat (about 5-10 sprays), it has to be a mist.
I had the same problem initaially after a rebuild and once i i tried the above a few times she started no probs.
She just needed a little kick start.
If it starts and then stops after a few seconds, there may be a fuel problem.
Hope this helps a bit.
Get a timing light on it while someone cranks it over for you - check it is firing somewhere near 15 deg BTDC.
Otherwise, make sure the fuel lines are on the correct way. Very common mistake. The return line goes to the pressure regulator.
The turbo 'puters will be marked 3TM or 3TA i think. Mine is a 3TM. Red sticker on the case.
Hope that helps
This may sound stupid , but did you put the fuel return lines on the right way around. It sounds exactly the same as mine when I put the new motor in. Changed the fuel lines around and presto. Fired up first go. Worth checking anyway.
To confirm if it is fuel related.
Just go to any auto shop.
Buy a can of aerostart, pull off the PCV hose off the rocker cover (the one that goes to the plenum), get someone to crank it, while you spray the aerostart down the hose.
If it runs on the aerostart, you know its the injectors not opening.

thank's everyone, will try all of them,
not a fuel issue cause have heaps of pressure!
will check the computer!
and do the aerostart ! Spoke to both, need to check that she isn't a 180 degree's out!
I've done that, got injectors cleaned, didn't install them for a few months, went to fire it and nothing, a few of them (the pintles) freed up after a while from lots of cranking but the others i had to ditch and buy new ones.
I thought they were suppose to put some special oil on them to stop this, but obviously the guy that did mine, didn't. Dodgy ****!

okies fella's
at this point have done following
check timing, is correct,
can smell fuel coming out of exhuast (don't know how much fuel but it's getting fuel
check spark again, yes i checked it on 1st and 5th
check fuel, lines and fuel come out of the pipe!
no when we tried to start it, it just kicked over, got behind the exhaust and smelt fuel
so then we left it, talking about what it could be, then mate tried to kick it over, it started and then just stopped, like first kick when brooomm and then nothing! kicked over nothing then waited again, about 5 2 10 minutes and thenh brooom nothing!
help!
p.s on the computer side of things, none of my computers had any numbers like that
does anyone know what the model number is i believe it started with an 'A' something, on the front bottom right!
I still reckon the fuel lines are on the wrong way. My old man done this with his EF falcon, had exactly the same symptoms as you just described.
Are you actually measuring fuel pressure, or just guessing?
This is a turbo manual ECU.....
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
no, have checked twice, the fuel lines are the correct way, the regulator at the end is the return line correct ?
if u look at the engine, i am putting it on the line on the closest connection to the radiator!
and none of my computers look like that! one is a bosch computer the other one has a green sticker on it 3ta or something!
Yep, return line goes on regulator. Get hold of a guage and "T" it into the supply line. Your pressure reg could be stuffed causing high pressure and too much fuel.
If you've got consistant, strong spark and the timing is right, it has to be fuel related.
3TA on the ECU means 3ltr, Turbo, Auto.
will check it tonight again, with the correct numbers off the computers i have!
when we sprayed fuel down the manifold it kick over for a bit,
also have triple checked the timing, taken the rocker cover off, checked the inlet on cylinder on is open to make sure it was on cylinder one, checked timing markers and also check the dizzy all on piston one,
it isn't timing cause when it does kick over it's smooth as!
okies, following things found out of
Internal Fuel pump is rusted! ROOTTEED
Fuel tank is completely ****ed! rust mud etc all at the bottom of the tank!
next thing
All injectors wring are working correctly, hooked an L.E.D to them and they all lit up
Hooked my high pressure up to the battrey and with a jerry can feed fuel into the engine,
It started then ran for maybe 15 seconds and stopped again!
would the computer have issues as it's not getting any signal back from the fuel pumps as i re wired them to the engine bay?
thanks fella's!
