Guys, my car had been sitting in the shed for several weeks...i let the rego run out... charged the battery up the other day, started her up, let it warm up for 10mins then i started revving it a bit to clear any cob webs, noticed white smoke out of the exhaust when i rev it and the boost wont rise above 5hg! Even up to 4500rpm. It was fine when i drove it last. When i back off the throttle i still get the turbo flutter.
Tried it again before and still the same.
your thoughts??

Did you actually drive it?
You won't get boost unless the motor is under load, i.e it has to generate the required exhaust gas to drive the turbo hard enough to make positive boost pressure.

Didnt drive it, its been able generate boost standing still before.

it sounds normal. Have you upgraded turbo since? If you rev it really hard like blipping the throttle like a rotar launch you should see positive pressure, but why?

what condition is the motor in ?
how long ago was the turbo rebuilt ?
my bt1 was blowing white smoke from one of the turbo seals and later i found out i had cracked ,my head gasket and cracked a piston.. Sorry to worry you,, but it shouldnt hopefully be mechanical

check ur boost guage man.. might be dodgey
ur turbo oil seals might be on their way out, and a lil oil is leaking past them into the exhaust.. u'd really have to take it for a quick drive to clear it right out make sure its all ok.. but from the sounds of it there isnt anything wrong at all... just go for a spin.

turbo rebuilt about 20,000kms ago.
Motor rebuilt same time, bored 40thou, forged pistons, total seal gapless rings etc etc.
will take it around the block tonight and see.

crap builds up in the exhaust sometimes when not run, it will eventually burn off.

24-11-04, 19:55 GMT+10#10 Took it for a quick drive before, boost pressure rises as it should now! when i got home let the car idle for a minute or two then gave it a stab of the throttle and held it at 3000rpm for a few secs, and still getting the white smoke.
May be turbo seal? wouldnt have thought after a recent-ish rebuild.

26-11-04, 08:23 GMT+10#16 yes, does it idle a little rough? Shift weird and stuff? Just disconnect the modulator line at the back of the plenum and see if the smoke stops. Yes it makes a different colour and smelling smoke, unlike engine oil.
