G'day everyone, I want to drop a RB30 engine from a VL into my VH SL/X (currently with a broken 202) and was wondering what I need to know/do? Any links to previous posts or articles would be greatly appretiated That's her, I probably want to get a whole VL as I bet there's lots of parts I would need, true? Cheers! - Juzza Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hi love the VH,and good to see ya want keep one alive, yes you would be better off starting off witha donor car but make sure the driveline is good. Gearbox wise it is a bit cheaper with the manual or you will need a VL dash for the speedo and wiring to work the auto. You will nead aVL crossmember so use a whole VL front end, struts, power steer etc,and use the VL diff, tank, radiator and support panel. What you are trying to do is put a VL under aVH so work out the costs before you start, dont forget the wiring.

Sounds good, definately a project worth the effort! Continuation of stripping the VH down continues Just wondering what things are different as there has been some confusion among us (mainly dashboard), and if anyone knows I was wondering if a VB boot could be bolted on to replace the VH one that's on there, as the VB boot here is in much nicer condition Cheers! - Juzza Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Not only that, with the VH you may need to modify the trans tunnel to suit the VL's automatic gearbox,so a manual would work out cheaper in the end. The VH struts can be used but the VL front crossmember will definitely need to be used. I have found even with a manual it is best to use the speed sensor, haven't experienced it with a standard RB30 as I always had the speed sensor wired to the ECU but with the twin cam motor (R33 ECU,etc) I have experienced bouts of stalling when coming to a stop. What happens is when I depress the clutch when coming to a stop, the revs will drop right down, bounce up then go up & down a couple more times, sometimes it will stall, sometimes it won't and can be dangerous.

It ain't really all that hard to do. I've just put a rb30 into my vk. Just rip out the entire wiring from the VH, and put the entire wiring from a VL in. You would be best to get a VL donner car also. Theres heaps of little bits that come in usefull.

hey dude i am currently in the process of putting a RB 30 into my VK, mine was an injected 202 so i used the standard fuel system and just bought a VL engine crossmember with engine mounts and the VL gearbox crossmember. i am using a VL 5 speed instead of an auto. pm me if you have questions
