if its collapsed you will be able to tell - loss of power, car will be struggling to go over 4 grand etc.

definate loss of power,um probly around 2300rpm onwards it sounds like theres no load on the engine and is just reving as if it was in neautral or something.Oh yeh and doesnt go very quick just revs it tits off without really going anywhere.

why does a collapsed cat do this? does it block flow nearly completely?

Sounds more like a gearbox problem to me if the engine is revving without putting down power to the wheels.

yeh the car is goin back to yarra valley to get the valve body changed to a lower pressure unit, the unit thats in it is grade 4 he says .ie for 300-350kw,with the car having a stock turbo it has a 2500 stall in it,i read recently stock turbs start boosting at around 2000rpm and finish around 2500 correct! If thats correct do you think i should change the stall to the factory stall speed?
