has anyone run this chip http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43807&item=4506251 029&rd=1 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43807&item=4506251029&rd=1) or something similar? is it easy to replace the existing chip and does it make a noticable difference?

yeah, i got one of those. Got no idea how well it goes yet but. Its in a project car. and i'll never know how much difference it makes compared to standard because i've had other things done to the motor like completely rebuilding it, cam, xf tb, etc. from what i've been reading on other fourms about these "dodgy" looking chips, is that they are basicly nearly a copy of the professional chips.

It more then likely is a copy of what the professionals do.. It's about 5 dollars worth of equipment with the new gear copied onto it, theres guys on here that do it and theres guys on r31 skyline club that do it aswell. Only reason I say it looked dodgy was well, RB 30 Perfomance Calibration is spelt incorrectly.. And well, when it comes to something such as a chip, as in, you have no idea when it comes to whats on it or not.. It could be anything.. You know when you are expecting an increase in power from trivial modifications, how you seem to notice them alot more.. Or your mind seems to look too much into it, I think it could be like that even if it was the same chip. Hence the reason why I'd wanna get it through somebody I trust, or somebody that deals professionally.

It's actually a real recognised psychological occurence, called the 'placebo effect'. If a person is expecting an effect from something, they will perceive the effect to be more dramatic than if they were not expecting anything to happen. The classic experiment testing this involved giving people sugar pills and telling them different things that this 'drug' would do. People were believing whatever they were told was going to happen, was actually happening.

Exactly.. hence the difference between a clean air filter and a k&n filter.. Not huge, but because people are expecting a huge difference, its there.

very true, i looked at his website linked, it says nothing about the vl chip, only about the vn/vp chip, it all sounds good but it sounds like it'll run worse in normal driving and go harder wen u kick it
