Hey hows it going. i own a calais turbo which as far as i know is completley unmodified. Just wondering how much would it cost me to reco the engine or if i was to mod the engine should i not waste my money recoing and just mod the bits i want. any theories would be great.

How many k's on the engine? A stock engine in good condition will cope fairly well with a few bolt on's, eg. if you just want mild power with a T3 highflow, 3" exhaust, small cooler, etc. then it will be fine. On the other hand if you're going to run heaps of boost through a massive turbo and run an 11 second pass then I would say rebuild. But if you don't have huge plans for it in the near future, then don't rebuild it just for the sake of rebuilding it.

maybe a mild rebuild when the time comes. do you mods, eg cooler, turbo but of boost zorst etc. Bresciani charge around 3.5k for a full rebuild with acl cast pistons hat would be good enough for your application Greg

but not worth it if he doesnt need it. maybe a chassis dyno would answer his question if it needs rebuild, it would abviously give bad peak and not much low end if it needs rebuild. but then again it might just need a new cat converter, a bad old cat would make any car look like it's missing sum compression, it'll lag down the bottom
