Hey my vlct has a n/a 5spd with a beefed up custom clutch (i just bought the car) and im wondering if it is normal at all that when the clutch is released (most obvious in neutral of course) there is a slight grinding sort of sound coming from the gearbox. Its pretty soft but it is definately there and goes away when i press the clutch in. Anyone got any comments?

yeah its common, u will usually have a bit there but if its kinda noisy/harsh ur input shaft bearing is probably rooted.

Refer to Uter's gearbox thread, there's some helpful stuff in there Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah, input shaft bearing. Fix it before it screws the input shaft.
