i need a program or something to tell me what size cooler in going to need. i got a 383 roller cammed holden engine with grp a throats and a v7 blower pushing 20psi and we are chasing a genuine 1000hp on an engine dyno. i need to know what size cooler i will need but theres not too much room in front of a vk nose cone. we are sort of stuck for more than 520-330-125 core size but i dont think thats anywhere near bid enough. any help or info would be great

try a water/air cooler and mount another heat exchanger (radiator) in front of the existing one. they are much more efficient than air/air coolers but do suffer from heat soak into the circulating water over time. when you take it down the strip or put it on the dyno for comps you can pack iced water into it and have intake temps below ambient temperature! with 1000hp i doubt it's a daily driver anyway......

prob ebing on dyno runs the water in a water/air cooler is too inconsistant. we want an air to air as they are more back to back consistent than the water cooled ones

inconsistent as in the intake temps vary? if you have a good heat exchanger and obviously a pump to push the water around, the whole system will be very solid. the water will reach a certain temp and just sit there, i don't see how they can be that inconsistent. unless it's a street driven car, it just seems silly to have an air/air front mount.

it will be street driven
just like the rest of his many cars over the years
branko - as osk said , get on the fone to richard , the sizes you have stipulated for the vk nose area would suffice for a cooler. the smaller the surface are of the cooler then the wider or deeper it should be.
so the 5inch deep would be fine.
but yeah give richard a buzz
tell hime andrew from qmdra sent ya
cheers
