Hey all,
Well I said I would let you all know how my mini-spool install went.
I got it installed last thursday and have been waiting to really test it out. I went to skid pan at Mt Cotton on Saturday so it got a good workout there but untill then I had'nt really gotton into it.
Tonite I was out with a couple of mates (3 ppl in car) and did a couple of donuts when half way through my 3rd donut, bang, axle snapped. I managed to limp my car home taking it easy all the way with a clinking weird noise coming from the left hand axle.
Does anyone think it is weird that I have only had the spool in for less than a week and I have snapped and axle already?
I will add that I think the tyres are a little fat (235's) and I had one person in the back, but I would have thought that I would have got a little longer than that out of axles?
Should also say that they are 25 spline axles not 28's.
Regards
Dave
not at all surprised but who gives a **** 25 spline axles come by the dozen. tell me how easy u found it pull out the broken axle some people have to take the diff housing apart to get to the snapped axle
pft.. 25spline, who cares. they are cheap. i have some here you can buy. save for a vlt diff. and no, I'm not really surprised. lockers are very harsh on a street car, think about what you are doing... locking the rear tyres together. think about the pressure that put on the diff, esp with 235's on the back.
bah.. man its not that big a deal... get a set of 28 spline axles and u should hve a problem..
however.. doin donuts in a spooled wagon with 25's ur askin for troublee man !! it was bound to happen
throw another axle in and just drive normally... boot it on straights and u'll be less likely to bust another one till u afford beefy units
but yeh.. i dont like ur chances of finding 28 spline wagon axles anywya.. rare as ****
peace out
