Ok does anyone have a rb30 torque plate I could hire off. If not if a few of us are doing bottom end rebuilds we could go a group buy on one and share it . I think they are only about $100 to make up.

what is/does the torque plate do? it doesnt happen to bolt from like the block to maybe the gearbox? or something like that... lower half of the block, 1 on either side?

the best way to bore and hone a block is to bolt a torque palte a at least a 1" thick peice of alloy to the block and torue it up like a cylinder head and laso tooruq up the mains. this is because a block will change shaped slightly when all toruqed up and assembled and to bore the block at the correct shape a torque plate is required. Im geting one made up atm

roumor has it that the rb blocks dont need to be installed with a torque plate for boring.

my bros motor was torque plate honed... it makes sence to bore a bore at the exact shape it is goin to be when u have ur pistons/crank back in and a head torqued down on the mofo.

yeh its the kinda thing ud do just for the sake of it.. same as like lubricating all the engine parts as u assemble them.. hahahaha

check it with a dial gauge and you can tell us rather than just assuming

i wasnt being a smar **** osk.. i was saying.. its like nitriding and shot peening etc.. u know wat i mean You get it done when because u can.. everything helps. u can not torque plate hone it or u can... if u can.. why not... it cant hurt at all to have everything as close to spec as possible.
