Hi Guys, I have heard that Nissan released a HD (Heavy Duty) block in the RB30 powered Patrols, does anyone know if these existed and where i can get one?

I don't know if they are any different (the block) but they ran a carby and they shouldn't be too hard to track down. 80's model I think.

RB30 are known to split the block in high HP applications

good luck finding a GQ Partol motor. relativle popular so that makes parts difficult to come by and not exactly cheap when you do.

I heard something once about a six cylinder Nissan diesel engine that uses a heavy duty block similar to the RB30. From what I remember the bore was smaller diameter with much thicker walls. Sorry I cannot remember any more about this, it may actually be total BS, I really do not know for sure.

Yeah im aware of that engine its a RD28, looking into whether that is a useable alternative but i would also be interested in the HD RB30 Block

I doubt that any non standard RB30 blocks have ever been made, after all that engine has never been used as a factory racing engine, or in a heavy duty truck or marine version. As far as I know every RB30 ever made was for a passenger car application. The only Nissan racing RB engine was the GTR N1 and those DID have a special heavy duty block with different cast iron specs, thicker webs and bores and so on. That might be a better basis for a really strong high Rpm endurance RB engine.

I am trying to avoid the need for a spacer that is needed to make a RB26 have enought deck height for 3,000cc. Do you know where i can find the specs on the RB28 i need to know the following: Bore, Stroke, Journal width, Journal Diameter. Considering I am going to have rods, pistons and crank made might be a better idea to make the parts to suit this block if it is indeed stronger.

Well like i said " I am aiming" for 1400hp whether i get there only time will tell, but i am doing everything to make sure the thing will stay in one piece hence why i am after a HD Block, dont want to use an OS Giken kit since it throws the Borexstroke ratio out and uses shorter rods not an ideal thing. Anyone know where i can get technical specs for the RB28T?? looked on thw web no luck

Ok we know why u want it so its stronger thats fair enuff what car did these blocks come in my old man has a Nissan Patrol the same as the Ford Maverick. its a 4.2Lt Str8 6 cyl its like a 91-92 model Patrol and its carbie. i dunno the model name but i was looking in his manul and reading the engines and my mates dad said that there was a Patrol made with the Rb30 but it was a slug and was crabie so man i think u are on the right track but i think its the same as the Rb30 in VL's anyways bro to get 1400HP you gunna have to honed and bore the block anyways so why bother. its gunna end up the same price and 400m cars are made to last 400m.

Fill half your block with resin and don't worry about cooling. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
