hey guys, just a quick one
i mite be starting an apprenticeship soon and i also mite have to buy a ute, or it will at least be very handy if i do.
i dont know a lot about them and was wondering if anyone can help me out.
basically all i wanna kno is wat is a good work ute??
my old man had a 2.7 ltr hilux but it had no guts, how do v6 hilux's rodeos etc go?
wat about turbo diesels? being diesel they should have heaps of torque rite?? which would b great for towing or having heavy loads in the tray.
i would b lookin at spendin $20 grand max ( i already have savings) but preferably closer to 15.
if anyone knows about work cars or has owned one, or can point me in the right direction that would b appreciated.
cheers

mate look around for a vs ute, they look great dumped on 18s and still do the job ,for 15 you will get a great v8 or an awsome v6, so search around , they go twice as hard as anything you said.
good luck

Hey mate, I don't know a whole lot about utes, but I do know that my mate is selling his 1996 VS Ute. It's the one pictured below, and is quite a bit Greener in the sunlight.
It's in absolutey mint condition. It's got a full VS Clubsport body kit, and a 185kw V8 in it. I'm pretty sure it's got a 5-spd manual in it, definately has a sweet exhaust, and is perfect for towing his boat.
PM me if ya interested in it. I don't know how much he's selling it for exactly, but I'm quite sure it's within your price range. He lives in Eastern Suburbs of VIC.

personally don't think they are too crash hot looking vs utes.
how about an older one tonner, hz perhaps???
gives you plenty of cash to build up a vlt and have a nice handy work ute, possibly on gas so it would be cheap to run....

a v8 ute would b awesome but i will b travelling across town most days of the week so petrol bills will b huge! vlt dreamer- an old run around while i build a project is a good idea...although it would b heaps easier tho to buy sumthin nice and new(er) without the hassle of car older than my vl, plus i have absolutely nowhere to store a second car
im gonna keep my options open since i wont actually b buying sumthin till the new year, i wanna take my time and not rush into it so i make the right choice.
im pretty sure tho i will b lookin at a mid 1990's model whether its commodore/falcon or a work ute like hilux, rodeo, triton etc

Get an F150 :P
Nah, We were looking at an AU tickford XR8 ute for $23000 (just out of your range) but it was pretty mint condition. We've also seen second hand BA utes go for $25000 around here, depends what you want.
You can get a brand new ford courier for $15000 that uses 12L per 100k's or something, really economical but most probably really gutless

oh i thought you were still gonna build up a vl at the samew time, but if not you'll have plenty of spare cash so go and buy a vu ss ute, gen 3 for 25+k.
