take it to your mechanic??? alll they do is take the backing plate off clean everything out put a new gasket on and seal it all up... as for how much its going to cost which depends on the mechanic as they pretty much charge different prices... if you want it to be less then i suggest getting the gasket yourself and the diff oil also then all you pay for is for them to put it all in for you.. but yeah as i said it all depends... yes you can drive it to your mechanic...... i dont see why not... you have been driving your car around and you have just noticed there is oil leaking from the diff...

It's not too hard to do it yourself, I think I could teach a monkey to do it. Go to repco, coventry, super cheap, etc. and tell them what you need, they will have diff oil and gasket-in-a-tube on the shelf. To fix the leak, it's a simple matter of removing the diff cover, draining the oil, cleaning both mating surfaces, follow the instructions on the gasket goo or whatever you buy, bolt it all back together and refill with oil. But if you must pay someone to do it, then yeah Nath is right any old mechanic could do it.
