well 1 of my relatives have a Cefiro it has a RB20E in it its single cam non turbo.
now i remember reading in the gregorys VL manual that the NZ VL's cam with a 2LT engine now i was wondering is this engine the same.
now i was just thinking could you just swap the head to an RB20DET head and run a Turbo on it using the standard bottom end i dunno wat comp ratio would be like or anything or strength of the engine or anything.
is this possible?
the RB20E's that came out were the OLD "red" RB20 which were a pile of crap
I myself have a RB20DET from a ceferio(later model) in my VL
As for swapping heads why bother you can get a engine for $1200 or a complete conversion (motor/gbox/ecu etc... for $1500
Go and see SSS automotive in sydney their engines are really good, cant say much for some other importers.....
i understand the RB20DET are next to nothing to buy compared to some other RB engines but his bottom end is worked and he has cracked head from an air lock that got in it so he was 1st just thinking of changing to a twincam head now he wants to go full turbo DET.
he said he has full rebuilt bottom end with 4AGZE pistons and some other things i 4got now exactly wat he told me but he got the head shaved i think and the compression was to high i think thats why he blew the head not an airlock.
everything else in the car is alrite.
