I have been trying to get my hands on a replacement set of 3:90's for my VL. So I went around various wreckers and even holden spare parts in hobart trying to locate a set but was told that they are very rare and if I find a set I would be very lucky.
But on this site people talk about them as if they are still in production and easy to get. What is the go? can I get a new set or do I have to reco the crown wheel & pinion? or whatever they do.
Andrew.

skyline diffs had 3.89's u can buy 3.91 gears brand new which are much stonger as the gears are more helical cost about $350-$400 for a new set

Thanx, I was trying to do it on the cheap, like spend $300 max but if I cant get a 3.90 set I suppose I might have to fork out for the 3.91. does the 3.91 make much of a difference? because as it is the old girl revs at 4000rpm @ 110kph
the skyline 3.89 ones you will find whine a lot. Your better off just getting a set of 3.91 crown and pin. VLT87, wheres the best place to obtain these?

haha, yeah i got politely told by a mod that it had to go but it was fun while it lasted. macguyver is here to stay i think, his philosophy of using household objects to defuse nuclear weapons and save trapped children is pretty much in line with my thinking.
